    Square Enix account

So I went to my Square Enix account to change my email thinking it wouldn't be difficult, boy, was I wrong.

Apparently it's not good enough that you're already logged into the account but you also need to remember not only the answer to your security question but the security question itself!

This is retarded on so many levels. I just simply want to update my email and I'm required to jump through hoops just to do it!

I realize that this probably isn't the place to post this but I couldn't for the life of me find an email I could sent directly to Square to complain about this. So if anyone knows the email it would be awesome.

Also please don't lecture me on how this helps keep my account secure because I manage to do that just fine on my own and I shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to do something as simple as changing my freakin email.

What's wrong with this? I work for a University and we have to remember our security questions if we forget our passwords.

You missed the point, I was already logged into my account, in other words I didn't forget my password. I was trying to update my email while already logged into my account when I was prompted to remember not only the security question but the answer as well.

I understand having to to answer a security question if you forget your password but not when I'm already logged in and just simply trying to update my email. It's excessive and downright stupid.

I have to enter an answer to my security questions every time I want to check my bank account online, so I guess it's not much a big deal to me. Anyway continue to rage away.

For security purposes, if someone were to try and steal your account and had gotten access to your username and password, the security measure you are describing would prevent them from altering the e-mail address and then changing your password to prevent you both 1: logging onto your account and 2: retrieving it. By changing the e-mail address first you wouldn't even realise what had happened.

It may seem extreme, but it IS an effective security measure.... for those of us who remembered to memorise/write down our security question + answer.

Besides, the one in FFXI was worse, if you didn't write down the PlayOnline ID and Square Enix ID that you were only given ONCE during the sign-up phase you couldn't retrieve your account AT ALL if you forgot your username or password.
