Still a ways to go. A bit more talking then a dungeon, then more talking and Shiva battle, then more talking and such before another dungeon and another battle...then more talking and another 8-man fight. Then a couple of hours of cut scenes to wrap up the current story. Easily a couple of days I think.
EDIT: you're near the beginning of the MSQ added in 2.4. So there's all of that, 2.5's content (which was a bit short), and then 2.55 (which mostly consists of a now nerfed battle and tons of cut scenes -- they literally warn you ahead of time that it's going to be nonstop cut scenes for a very long time so get settled in)

There is no real end, because every major patch or expansion adds more quests, so it's pretty much something that will continue for the lifetime of the game.
I understand that people play for different reasons and not everybody likes questing and story, but a lot of content is gated behind it, so...
I guess some day when the main scenario has bloated to an extreme amount, they might need to open up content to people without going through it at the cost of the story making less sense?
I started a month or two ago. I have no problem waiting months between patches for new content but I heard they've gated the next expac behind everything so I've been trying to finish this up already. X_X I think I would've appreciated the story line way more if it wasn't done this way.
LOL. I knew there'd be some who'd post a comment like this. Thanks for living up to my expectations. ;D
You're welcome. My answer were rethorical as your question ;DLOL. I knew there'd be some who'd post a comment like this. Thanks for living up to my expectations. ;D
Unless you were serious about remake the game under your Point Of View. That's another thing, which I only can say I disagree.
No? SE kinda does.
You see, you have to do the main scenario in it's entirety to start HW from what I've seen from *everywhere* and with a month left to go, there's going to be people that aren't there yet.
I started a few weeks ago with a friend of mine. I'll have 0 problems being caught up by then, but he's currently 24 and has 3 hours a day tops to play. Between queue times and in general slowness because he likes to absorb the story before moving on, he's likely to not have it finished by the time the expansion hits.
When no one is doing those instances anymore.
Essentially preventing him from moving on to the main scenario in HW.
Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
You're forgetting that there are 3 new jobs comming out that start at 30, I for one will be switching to Dark Knight ASAP once the expansh hits and i know quite a few other people will be switching to the new jobs as well..not only that but there are quite a few people who make alts (still don't understand why you would in ffxiv) that still need to finish the MQ.

Not to mention there are quite a few people who have bought the FFXIV + Heavensward bundle that won't get in game until the expansh actually launches (players who buy the bundle wont get the base game till heavensward launches).
So not only will there be a huge influx of tanks and healers, there are going to be quite a few people that are returning or starting the game brand new
If you can enter a dungeon without the required number of people...you won't need duty finder. Seeing as how you'll likely be 50 before he hits 30 you can enter a dungeon with him and more than likely wreck the place for him

Yeah, I was going to say. They most certainly do. New dungeons for roulette are locked inside story quest and now HW is as well. You need to complete Steps of Faith in order to access /any/ new content aside from I think (hopefully) the new race, which while being pretty, has no actual effect on the game aside from aesthetics. I'm in the same boat as your friend Nadirah. Granted at least I have alts who are up that high but it took me months to get there because the story is padded to heck with 'I know you are the warrior of light but can you please lift this box/find this necklace/talk to me because I'm lonely and have no friends' quests. In fact the characters themselves say things like 'Oh...they have /you/ doing this' a lot which does not make it any less a crap way to drag out what would otherwise be a more engaging story.
I'm on disability and have all day to go with. He doesn't. He's going to be so far behind.. and I'm going ot have to beg people to do this stuff for him. I *hate* doing that..
