Friend Requests

I don't frequent these forums so unsure if I'm posting in the right place, but, can we do something about Friend Requests?

RMT are sending around 8 a day and it's getting highly frustrating. A simple daily limit on sending requests or cool-down period of say, 15 minutes between each one, would fully solve this annoyance and I imagine its an easy fix.

This recently started on Gilgamesh, too. A gil seller sent me a friend request. I denied it and then he sent me another one 5 hours later.

I really hope we get an option to "also blacklist this player" when you choose not to friend them. Maybe that stops the friend requests?

It's not in the same step, but the notice in your chat log that says something to the effect of "You deny friend request from Sell'gils Cheap" allows the same right-click Blacklist option as a /tell message does.

Plus u have to 2 step remove them have to click no on the pop up and another no in the friend list is kinda lame since you are going to get the request an hour or so later

Just leave them be instead of declining, and stick it to the program sending out all the friend requests. They have a limit of 200 confirmed/pending friends at any given time, and have to remove a request before sending another when they reach that point. Take that you piece of software, now you can see how annoying it is to constantly cancel friend requests.

My thought to fix this is this:

1) Don't allow account to send friend requests for the first 72 hrs of the account but allow them to accept them.
This allows new players to still find and hook-up with their ingame friends but helps keep players from getting spammed by gil sellers.

2) Auto-clean my black list. If a player/character/account is deleted, automatically remove it from my black list.
Hopefully the first option will keep a blacklist from becoming full but this option should help.

Yeah, how about not allowing characters with obvious RMT names to be created in the first place? :| That seems to be the most baffling to me, still not having any such filter at all, apparently.

And how about not allowing lv1 characters (in combination with a 72hrs lockdown PER CHARACTER, instead of account) to send friend requests? I know many argue that this wouldn't help much, but the fact is, all characters I'm getting friend requests are brand new lvl1s. Make a minimum lv20 requirement for it - from what I've seen, advertisers and farmers are not the same characters, previous ones always created solely for the purpose of advertising.

Auto-cleaning the blacklist would probably be a good idea, but I feel like it's asking for too much when even declining a request has to be done TWICE.

Support desk also needs tweaking because it's extremely cumbersome - to open, to report, but most of all to do away with notifications.

I went for a month, unfriending and blacklisting every RMT ... my B-list was 100 full with names like "WTGGIL..blahblah" ... srsly? you can't tell that is an RMT, SE? ... Anyway, I'm about to randomly friend people so I can get to 200 so they can't do it anymore.

But actually, I stopped 'declining' the friend requests and they 'timeout' and I haven't gotten more than 3 this week ... I might keep them there tbh, the button on the UI doesn't bother me all that much so it is no biggie atm (will probably annoy me later tho, lol )

I don't think they automatically time out, but the spam bot sending them can probably only have a certain number outstanding at a time. If they run out of space, they'll cancel the oldest ones so that they can send more. Last Friday I left them alone and kept track and there was a Friend request from one spam bot that stayed active all evening, but another spam bot would send a request roughly every hour or so, and then around half hour to 45 minutes later would cancel it.

The button only bothers me during cutscenes. For some reason, even though the rest of the HUD disappears, that little button saying you have 2 pending Friend requests stays on the screen throughout cutscenes. It's more visually distracting when it's the only HUD element still there.

yeah I would not hold my breath on SE getting this resolved they are actually taking away our past ability to deal with this nonsense via macro its painfully clear that they want these spammers in game I don't even know why they bother making it against the term and condition kind of a joke SE has the same relation with spam then the phone company have with telemarketers...

this use to work and you push one macro button and it dealt with everything but they disable the flist deny <r> over a month ago to help out there friends gil spammers
