    Newbie Summoner help?

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or give tips or whatever? I'm not looking for dungeon or raid help. Just world PVE stuff.

Titan is my problem. I have him on obey at all times. If there are two spawns or mobs, he'll go after one of them and pretty much ignore my directions until that mob is dead. This is killing me. I'll have the other mob selected and try to get him to attack it but he rarely does it. Even if he actually listens to me, he doesn't grab aggro and just goes back smashing his head on the first mob. I do use the ground slow/aoe we get but that doesn't seem do much of anything.

Also, I keep Titan on passive so he doesn't go off chasing the mobs while mounted. When I engage the mobs I want to kill and put him back on guard, he'll run away to the last mob I aggroed while mounted. It's like a mini battle. He's pretty much useless while I'm trying to get him to do what I order.

What am I doing wrong? I'm new to the game so please forgive this stupid question.

Target the mob you want it to attack, use obey, and it will attack it. It may take a few seconds for it to register the order, but it will.

Yeah using obey changes your pet's battle mode, but it also doubles as an order to attack your current target, the same is true for Sic. Actually when using titan I tend to leave him on Sic since there's nothing he really has that you need to prevent him from using unless you're in a party, but you really shouldn't be using titan unless you're soloing.

Leaving him on passive mode while mounted is a good idea for any pet. I actually have a macro that uses Steady and summons my mount in the same button to make sure I always do this. There's no need to reactivate guard though when you get off your mount. Just order your pet to attack with either Obey or Sic, and it will automatically disengage Steady. This will ensure that your pet attacks the target you want and not some other mob on your aggro list.

No. This isn't true. This is the problem I'm having with my pet. He doesn't attack the mob I'm attacking and I keep dying. I have to stop everything I'm doing and repeatedly push his attack buttons before he decides to come over. And even then he'll just hit the other mob once and go back to the mob he was attacking.

Maybe he's just trolling me. I dunno.

Here, I tried to take screenies of what Titan is doing. The first one is with Titan on sic and the second is Titan on Obey. You can see that I'm targeting a different mob and that the mob is halfway dead while Titan is still one a different mob. He didn't attack the second mob in either of these two cases.

I know these aren't the best screenies. I tried to crop them so they wouldn't be so big. I don't have a streaming video thingy so I can't actually show the whole thing.

Use Sic, does the same thing, and unless you're using garuda 99% of the time sic works.

You have to reuse it while targetting a different enemy. It takes your pet a second or two to respond, if it is autoattacking or casting a spell.

Yeah. You have to click Obey/Sick again when you want him on a new target. Any time you want a pet on a new target you have to click Obey/Sick while selecting it.

It wont just change targets because you have.

Try putting him on Steady instead of Guard.

Thanks. I'll try this. I've played over pet classes in other games and they all switch naturally. /sigh But thanks.

Once you get the hang of it you will appreciate the way it works. There are many times that you will want your pet attacking things that you are not.
