    because some people are straight up anti social.

    the real problem is forcing 90% of the game to require a group. people want to play a game if most of the game is looking for other people to play with it's not much of a game.

    players who start when it's new will have no issues but as less and less people are in these area's and content they wait longer and longer.

    Players can get 1-50 not talking to anyone, suddenly content requires you to interact with other human beings.

    that's not the problem if it started like that we would have a lot less players. look at 1.0 for a good example.

    if you mean 50 plus content (like dungeons) you can do most (except ex's and coil) with no social interaction.

    I solo a good bit, in this MMO and others. No I did not play XI, or older "harder" MMOs...at the same time, I enjoy('d) playing with other people, making friends with them and the like. A harder open world that leads to people teaming up more often is good in my book, while at the same time it isn't going to be so difficult that you need a group just to take down one monster. People, even in groups (and before flying) will find ways to safely get around mobs without aggroing, and most likely the areas that NEED groups won't be part of the main story.

    This isn't going to force you to group up, just encourage it.

    Also if I'm correct 1.0's problems had very little to do with a "hard open world" and forcing people to group up or something like that.

    I just hope I don't have to fear going anywhere just because mobs will kill me in a few hits. If it comes to that, I will take an easy world over a difficult world any day.

    Difficult sounds great on paper, but if it isn't implemented correctly, it will be more of a big inconvenience and a big headache that will get old fast than it will be a coolness factor for me, and many other people I would think.

    I don't think pushing people to group up for every little thing they need is a good idea.

    it had everything to do with it. it catered to a niche group, and when everyone else didn't play they had to fix it.

    I agree with the OP. Queing for a 20-30 dungeon with emotionless people is less fun than building friendships that last, with people coming together to overcome something in the open world. What’s the point of open world if everything comes in an instanced dungeon? We need more open world content to immerse players into the games atmosphere.

    I understand this point and agree 100%. I feel this is something ffxi did poorly. However if feel it's just as true for being and mmo if it's tipped the other way with 90% being DF and then 10% having to find a party and socialize. Honestly I feel it's less than that right now. I think it needs to be balanced.

    the issues drove players who liked the game away. the game flat out never got enough players due to it being niche with it's open world difficulty.

    you can't drive away player who quit at lvl 5 due to difficulty. (or don't even flat out play it.)
