    Lightbulb Gilgamesh Abandoned Housing

There are abandoned housing units in Mist and the Lavender Beds. These places have owners that are no longer playing and can't be reached. They have canceled their subscription and/or have been perma banned. Can we please get these looked into and released so they can be purchased by subscription players?

    Mist Ward 3
    The Lavender Beds Ward 4

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are plots like this all over Phoenix. We desperately need a system to forcibly relinquish the plots of players that haven't played for long periods. There's a large plot in Mist on Phoenix that has been abandoned since the very month FC housing was first released due to the FC leader rage-quitting the game over some argument. That's over a year ago!

I was under the impression that there was a system to forcibly relinquish housing. I remember a member of my FC was forced to leave the game due to a job related issue/moving and their home was purchased a month or two after they had left the game. There was a number of houses in multiple wards on Gilgamesh that randomly became available a few months ago.

Out of curiosity how do you know these players have left?

Oh and while we are it, there is a small house in Mist Ward 1 on Gilgamesh that is owned by what seems like a gilseller and the neighborhood would really like their house to be removed.

Well firstly to give you an example of how I personally know someone has quit I will give you this.

First lets take a look at this FC, the name of which I have used in every MMORPG I have played since September 1997. The FC in question is called The Returners on Siren Server
    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/freecompany/9231394073691030639/

It says 9 active members. Not ONE of them has been on in a very very long time. To make matters worse lets take a look at one of there members named Lycia Dealkirk. Her item level on her gear is all 110/120.

If you take a look at her blog it clearly says she is leaving the game, which can be viewed here
    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/2953623/blog/1800970/

Now that is one of the best players in that FC that is gone. Now lets take a look at their leader.
    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/2629259/

This person has not been active since 1/20/2015 based on her ACHIEVMENTS.

I have friends who, when they log in at different times of the day try and add her to friends list and it ALWAYS says that this player is not able to be added.

Could this guild of 9 inactive people be all playing on different characters and different servers? Perhaps however, the more likely senario is that they have since quit the game. The FC name is taken and NOT being used. Not only that but the housing plot is sitting there, abandoned. I made a thread a month and a half ago on my server asking ANYONE for any information about them. If anyone knows anyone who can transfer the FC and house over to me as I will fully utilize both and make something of it. NO ONE on my server has posted any information on the thread.

Furthermore, I have went as far as to spending 3-4 hours worth of research on every community mmorpg website I could find, to try and contact ANYONE on that FC to log in, get master and transfer and nothing has came of it.

SE has dropped the ball and really needs to not only relinquish FC names to those wanting them but also relinquish housing plots to be resold. It is clear to me that the FC and house plot in question in my server has LEFT the game and plans never to return.

There is no system in place to forcibly relinquish plots. SE was planning to add one but then a bunch of crybabies started screaming that it was unfair for them to lose the plot if they quit because they might come back. Of course it is far more unfair on everyone else that doesn't own a plot to be denied one due to inactive players but SE gave in to the pressure and didn't implement the system.

How your FC friend lost his house is beyond me as there is no system in place to do that. The houses that randomly free up from time to time are due to players deleting their characters as that immediately destroys everything associated with that character.

This whole thing is completely out of whack, and it is only a matter of time until there is a board room meeting after a bad quarterly report, where someone smartly asks "so, why are we paying for all of those extra server racks to sustain housing for people who don't even play?". And when that happens no amount of tears is going to stop the repossessions.

Daoc had a good upkeep system that sent you your house deed and all your housing items if you took a long break. If you decided to come back, you could just plop your house back down at no cost. It allowed you to pay an unlimited amount of upkeep if you were planning an extended break, but wanted your house to stay in its spot. This system is what should have been used.

Thats what should be done. Of course, they would need to fix these plot tiers and simply charge based on size for this to work. The price differences could be added to the upkeep so its fair to those that paid the extra money for better plots. They also need to fix extortion by giving the house a random window to be free game again after it is relinquished.

I'm just baffled that the housing in this game is so miss managed when theres plenty of other mmos that do it right.

Absolutely. DAoC really was a game that had it all figured out. Not a game that could exist now-a-days, but they understood how to set all that up so well that they didn't even need to use wards or instances.

If I were you I would have trademarked that guild name the second game I played in and formed a community around it and enforced it like The Syndicate does.
