I like alot of the new additions to the game but, I dont like the idea of you changing the original mechanics of the game that gave its individual game play. I think you should keep on track with the new world set and not change over to 11ish style.

I agree. Actually, since the FFXIV seems to already have it's path decided to follow FFXI style and to become completely different from the original FFXIV, right now i'm trying to use the first anniversary date to try and suggest them to actually split the FFXIV in 2 games...leave the current FFXIV, that will follow the FFXI steps and become a battle-based game as FFXIV and resuming the beta test for the orignal FFXIV as a spin-off game of FFXIV.
In the end it would be a win-win deal. Those who like the path the dev team is taking would stick with FFXIV and those who liked the stressfree, casual-friendly proposal of the original FFXIV could just stick with the spin-off game. In the end this would be good for the current dev team because would greatly increase the acceptance of the chances, would be good for the original FFXIV since now people know what to expect from it, also offering it this time a playerbase that is looking foward to that game and not seeking a FFXI-2, and to SE itself since not only the original FFXIV is already "complete enough" to go straight to beta phase but also would be an extra opportunity to keep players willing to pay subscription fee.
I do think that resuming the original FFXIV beta test in like 1~2 servers (since the population that approved it seems a to be minority tight now) would be an extremely good idea...and in the end it would just turn out to be a 3rd global MMO from SE based on FF serie...even if just as a spin-off. Dirge of Cerberus, Dissidia, FFT serie...they're all spin-off games and still are just as good as any game from FF main serie.
I support the idea of SE resuming the original FFXIV as a spin-off game and i would gladly migrate to it if it ever happen.
You want them to make 2 different versions of FFXIV and support them both? Yeah, that's gonna happen...
Not 2 versions, mister...this is not pokémon for us to have FFXIV-Yoshida version and FFXIV-Tanaka version.
I meant a different games. This one would stay FFXIV, the 14th game of the main serie...the other one could even receive a name like Digre of Cerberus, which is related to FFVII by lore only, but being in no way the same game.
The current FFXIV and the original FFXIV already have major differences and as the dev team keep updating it it will just grow bigger. I wouldn't be surprised if, in like an year or so, the only thing the current FFXIV and the original FFXIV would still have in common being the game name, characer models and the base lore.
We can think on this as if they were racing games...assume FFXI was need for speed...and the original FFXIV was mario kart. The players came to FFXIV expecting for need for speed and not mario kart, so SE designed a dev team to turn FFXIV into need for speed.
However, there are players that like mario kart and don't like need for speed...and these changes might result in them losing these players...and this is where my suggestion comes in...i'm suggesting them to just keep their need for speed and also resume the development of their mario kart, being then able to keep both group of players playing their games and, eventually, paying subscription fee.
in order to have both you would have to support both, which is what he said, it would never happen.

Well, its what i said. I don't see why not supporting both. They are different games that might be targeting different public...i can't where having people playing the original FFXIV would be worse than having them playing, as example, WoW.
Also, the original FFXIV is already "ready" for beta test...its not like they would be developing it all over again...it would just be giving something already ready to be used a second chance. ^^
And just like FFXIV will have a second chance at PS3 relaunch, the original one could have too...but this time being relaunched with a new name and only when it was really ready to be launched! ^^
Yoshi-p idea are very western when there noting wrong with that this is final fantasy and his idea don't sound very final fantasy to me. The idea tanaka had was very strong and bold and just needed more time then they give him to get it done. So everyone blame him for the mistake of FFXIV when the same team that fail at making anything on time is still working on FFXIV Today. We need someone who made old final fantasy in the team to give final fantasy idea if tanaka and yoshi-p work together and make the game really fun for western but also still have the final fantasy feel then i'm all for it. But w/e the game is doing great i don't blame yoshi-p or tanaka i blame the CEO for making the game have a bold release of 2010 when every player and even the team new the game was not ready.
I hope one day FFXIV can become a great game but for now it going to be a hard long road for it. I don't think this game would ever have a big fan base due to this issue and i blame that on whoever made it be release 2010 if it was the CEO or not i blame that person.
The changes too ffxiv are great but there some thing that make you think like really?
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Autographed By "Akihiko Yoshida Tarot Card Sweepstakes Winner
Totally agree! That's why i'm trying to bring this discussion up! ^^ While the way Yoshida is dealing has nothing wrong and that i'm aware that he's actually making a brand new game from ground and only using the old content to keep game live while changing one part at a time, i still have hope that one day we can actually see the original FFXIV live as well...probably not as FFXIV...maybe not even as a FF game...but i still hope i can see it! ^^
And i'm sure if the playerase start showing interest in having the original FFXIV making a return as a spin-off, it will come back! Because the consumer makes the company! ^^
So i might repeat this a while still in the next 10 days (looking foward to FFXIV anniversary!)..."I support the original FFXIV making a return as a spin-off game!" ^^
