Not 2 versions, mister...this is not pokémon for us to have FFXIV-Yoshida version and FFXIV-Tanaka version.
I meant a different games. This one would stay FFXIV, the 14th game of the main serie...the other one could even receive a name like Digre of Cerberus, which is related to FFVII by lore only, but being in no way the same game.
The current FFXIV and the original FFXIV already have major differences and as the dev team keep updating it it will just grow bigger. I wouldn't be surprised if, in like an year or so, the only thing the current FFXIV and the original FFXIV would still have in common being the game name, characer models and the base lore.
We can think on this as if they were racing games...assume FFXI was need for speed...and the original FFXIV was mario kart. The players came to FFXIV expecting for need for speed and not mario kart, so SE designed a dev team to turn FFXIV into need for speed.
However, there are players that like mario kart and don't like need for speed...and these changes might result in them losing these players...and this is where my suggestion comes in...i'm suggesting them to just keep their need for speed and also resume the development of their mario kart, being then able to keep both group of players playing their games and, eventually, paying subscription fee.
