I did play with some settings myself and while I've been trying to identify a cause for bored-CPU/bored-GPU results, I can't find any, really. Occlusion Culling doesn't really do anything (though causes pop-in around corners) for performance for me.

XIV is running on the 840 EVO, the rest of the hardware is visible. This is on WIN8.1x64.

During the presentation of the DX11 client, they told something that the DX11 client will adress performance issues in areas with many players by moving more CPU work
    into GPU work.

From the description, it seems memory and BUS speed seems to be the bottlenecks for this.

And BTW: As I've seen on some screenshots. Beginning with Windows 8 there is a serious performance hit when running in Window/borderless Window instead of real fullscreen.

I've never had a problem running Borderless on Windows 8.1. o_o, is there seriously a difference?

    I thought there wasn't any.

Fullscreen is very smooth for me. Window and borderless Window not. Running Win7 borderless Window was a good option. But since Win8 not anymre.

We already can see benefits in the new benchmark. I created a video awhile ago that compares DX9 to DX11.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1BMZqSN5zk

    Minimum Frame rates
    Code:
    Time, DX9, DX11(DX9), DX11
    2:07, 42, 95, 76
    4:20, 43, 103, 95
    4:56, 53, 117, 91
    5:15, 50, 86, 72
    GPU Usage as %:
    Code:
    Time, DX9, DX11(DX9), DX11
    2:07, 50, 97, 97
    4:20, 49, 92, 94
    4:56, 54, 96, 97
    5:15, 62, 97, 97
