No, there's something wrong here. I have almost the exact same set up but instead I'm running a GTX 760. The OP isn't running 1080p (1080 is 1920x1080) but an ultra widescreen version of it which is the same resolution that I run. In MD I see ~30 FPS. I would think that a 970 would be a lot better than the 760 and should consistently be above 35-40 in crowded city setting, but I could be wrong.

there is no difference in the fps count between 1920 and 2560 horizontal pixel, even if i use 3440x1440 using DSR the fps count is the same, just GPU usage will increase.

When you had your friend test, did you make sure s/he was looking at the same area of MD as you, and not at the floor? As a couple others have pointed out, I'd just blame DirectX 9 being slow. It doesn't matter how fast your CPU or GPU are if the graphics API itself is a snail. I run an older i7 2600k with a GTX 970 OC, at max settings, and get anywhere from 20-30fps in the heart of Mor Dhona. S ranks ive dropped to ~15fps. Not unusual in crowded areas. I highly doubt you are bottlenecked anywhere.

Yeah there's some sort of optimization issue going on. If you are playing at 2560x1080 and 1920x1080 without any decrease in performance, that means that your system is powerful enough to handle the increased pixels without bogging it down, which makes sense given a 970.

There is no reason though why you should be at such low FPS, unless it IS your CPU but I don't know as much about CPUs as I do GPUs. Good luck though.

I'm sure you've tried all this but:

    1. update drivers (try fresh install)
    2. close all external running programs
    3. try in full screen mode/windowed mode
    4. make sure your fps isn't capped either in game or via some other parameter
    5. compare with other games

Nothing wrong with your PC. Everyone will drop in crowded areas.

Does switching graphic setting IG spike FPS.

The could be something that the current driver just don't like.

I have an i7 -2770, Nvidia 770, And play Max settings and get 50+ FPS everywhere but in dragon neck where I need to turn my settings to desktop normal to get over 40 FPS

I'm playing with 1440p, I have a few hacks in my drivers and registry to make thing better.

Or it could be the hole Nvidia 970 4GB ram issue

Whats the speed of your CPU and your friends CPU? I saw your CPU info and see it says 3200mhz. I know sometimes they dont record the actual speed if its over clocked. If you are running stock CPU speeds and your friends is oced to over 4ghz. I could see the discrepancy being there.

You do have two 4GB sticks right?..... You're not running a single 8GB stick of ram I hope lol. That could cause issues since it limits your Ram bandwidth to single channel instead of dual channel.

Also, your CPU is not Turboing up. Are you running a Power Saving Power Profile? That could effect things too. Can try Balanced or High Performance to see if that changes things.

Edited: NVM 3.4 is the max turbo for that CPU.

@Imoye yep thats what i thought, and its true. i thought 20fps at mor dhona is normal, until i compare it with my friend. well, they could lie about it, but why would they do that tho.
@Acyd im not very sure abt my friend's but mine is clocked at its stock speed. does the speed affect much?
@Judge_Xero i thought power option only affect display sleep and such? but mine is already at high performance setting when i check it.
@MaikoRain thanks for posting your screenshot. we both and Itseotle with 980 have similar issue, i guess this is only an issue for 900 series. i did a bit research and there are also many people have this issue with 900 series, low gpu utilization and low fps compared with other gpu models with the same cpu.

a question, if i change the cpu with i7 4790k will i get better framerate? the i5 4460 is clocked at 3.2 - 3.4GHz, i7 4790 is 4.0 - 4.4Ghz. i suspect this game does not utilize hyperthreading, but will more clock speed affect performance in any way?
i bought this i5 4460 because everyone on the web say its more than enough for gaming and u wont get any noticeable improvement anymore than that.
