Does switching graphic setting IG spike FPS.
The could be something that the current driver just don't like.
I have an i7 -2770, Nvidia 770, And play Max settings and get 50+ FPS everywhere but in dragon neck where I need to turn my settings to desktop normal to get over 40 FPS
I'm playing with 1440p, I have a few hacks in my drivers and registry to make thing better.
6. this might be a defective video card...
Or it could be the hole Nvidia 970 4GB ram issue

Whats the speed of your CPU and your friends CPU? I saw your CPU info and see it says 3200mhz. I know sometimes they dont record the actual speed if its over clocked. If you are running stock CPU speeds and your friends is oced to over 4ghz. I could see the discrepancy being there.

@Imoye yep thats what i thought, and its true. i thought 20fps at mor dhona is normal, until i compare it with my friend. well, they could lie about it, but why would they do that tho.
@Acyd im not very sure abt my friend's but mine is clocked at its stock speed. does the speed affect much?
@Judge_Xero i thought power option only affect display sleep and such? but mine is already at high performance setting when i check it.
@MaikoRain thanks for posting your screenshot. we both and Itseotle with 980 have similar issue, i guess this is only an issue for 900 series. i did a bit research and there are also many people have this issue with 900 series, low gpu utilization and low fps compared with other gpu models with the same cpu.
a question, if i change the cpu with i7 4790k will i get better framerate? the i5 4460 is clocked at 3.2 - 3.4GHz, i7 4790 is 4.0 - 4.4Ghz. i suspect this game does not utilize hyperthreading, but will more clock speed affect performance in any way?
i bought this i5 4460 because everyone on the web say its more than enough for gaming and u wont get any noticeable improvement anymore than that.

LOL, yes the i7s will give better performance than the i5s, which is why they cost more. But you gotta be nuts to go out and buy a new CPU just for a small improvement of the FPS in Mor Dhona. Why are you obsessing about your fps in Mor Dhona? It's just one tiny area in the game! The reason why there are so many people in Revenant's Toll is because it's the where you obtain your rewards for performing end game stuff. Thus it becomes a spot where people just "hang out" when they have nothing else to do. What good is having a high frame rate if all you are going to do is stand around?a question, if i change the cpu with i7 4790k will i get better framerate? the i5 4460 is clocked at 3.2 - 3.4GHz, i7 4790 is 4.0 - 4.4Ghz. i suspect this game does not utilize hyperthreading, but will more clock speed affect performance in any way?

Play the game instead of relying on the FPS meter to make you feel insecure about your performance.![]()

I remember reading that the GTX 970 had a memory issue as the memory is used up. There was a design flaw that was meant to improve performance on lower end machines but it ended up causing it to drop performance drastically when it gets close to using all of it's vram available. Read some about it here

yes thats the 3.5 + 0.5GB vram thing. framerate will drop if u hit more than 3.5gb vram and its still far from FF14 usage which is around 1GB.I remember reading that the GTX 970 had a memory issue as the memory is used up. I don't know if i would throw $350 dollars at it. if you look at things like this you will see the difference between i3 and i7 is extremely minimal for gaming

I would spend 30-40 bux on an aftermarket air cooler and some arctic silver thermal paste honestly. i think cooler master 212 have a really good reputation, ur processor prob getting too hot if it's dropping all the way down to 20 fps.

yes i hv ssd samsung evo 840 250gb for ff and os
im using that cooler as well, im not sure about the thermal paste thoughI don't know if i would throw $350 dollars at it. if you look at things like this you will see the difference between i3 and i7 is extremely minimal for gaming

go to your Square Enix > Final Fantasy XIV ARR directory in the start>programs menu, there's a shortcut to "system information" just under the ffxiv launcher, open it up, click copy information to clipboard and post it here.
