This is only a problem in highly populated areas (i.e. Mor Dhona). I'm assuming everywhere else it runs pretty smoothly...

my i7 3930k@4.6Ghz and Titan X can drop below 30 fps during prime time in crowded areas.
    thx for the replies,
yes lowering my object quantity display setting will improve my frame rate, but thats not the point here. my point is why my pc is getting much worse frame rate than others with comparable specs. gtx970 is even better than 780 and 7850.
it cant be cpu bottleneck because one of my friends also use i5.. clearly not gpu bottleneck too as it is only working at 40% load..

As people have pointed out here, you getting the same framerates as everyone else in Mor Dhona! Other's with comparable specs are not doing any better. Turn off the FPS meter and play the game! LOL!

No, there's something wrong here. I have almost the exact same set up but instead I'm running a GTX 760. The OP isn't running 1080p (1080 is 1920x1080) but an ultra widescreen version of it which is the same resolution that I run. In MD I see ~30 FPS. I would think that a 970 would be a lot better than the 760 and should consistently be above 35-40 in crowded city setting, but I could be wrong.

i compared it with 2 friends of mine, i was there too, at the same time, settings, place. their fps double mine.
im using the in game fps meter on the sys config window.

there is no difference in the fps count between 1920 and 2560 horizontal pixel, even if i use 3440x1440 using DSR the fps count is the same, just GPU usage will increase.

Yeah there's some sort of optimization issue going on. If you are playing at 2560x1080 and 1920x1080 without any decrease in performance, that means that your system is powerful enough to handle the increased pixels without bogging it down, which makes sense given a 970.

There is no reason though why you should be at such low FPS, unless it IS your CPU but I don't know as much about CPUs as I do GPUs. Good luck though.

I'm sure you've tried all this but:

    1. update drivers (try fresh install)
    2. close all external running programs
    3. try in full screen mode/windowed mode
    4. make sure your fps isn't capped either in game or via some other parameter
    5. compare with other games
    6. this might be a defective video card...

That does sound strange. What OS are you using? 32 or 64 Bit

Have you compared Full Screen and Windowed?

Are you running all the default settings in NVidia Control Panel?

If you have the Max Buffered Frames set high with VSync on it will really bog down the GPU but will give you very smooth frames. In your case it might be using up all the vRam, but not actually pushing the GPU very hard.

An SSD will help some in crowded areas if you don't have one.

I have a 970 and so far in rly crowed places OR looking at an Atherite will for some reason drop fps. I think its just and optimization thing. Happened on my old cars 6850 BE as well. My fps in Mor Dhona is 20-35fps at times until i leave the walls, even if i look back towards teleport area fps will drop from the 60+ depending if locked.

Just zoned in Mor Dhona and depending where i look its 23-45 fps @11:48am solid 60 everywhere else.

im using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
i have tried full screen, borderless, windowed, no difference.
vram is not an issue, ff is only using 30% from 4gb, its still far to hit 3.5gb limit.
nvidia control panel is at default too. i tried change some settings but no difference anywhere as well.

one thing though, i once used sweetfx, tweaked somethings here and there. then there was one time i format my drive, and i only backup my game data. now that im running the game under the new OS without sweetfx, any chance it might affect something?

yes, my frame rate only drop when there are a lot of people on the screen. the thing is i compare the frame rate with people at the same time, same location, and same settings, and mine is significantly lower.

Bad performance in crowded areas is not unusual. Have you tried changing windowed/full screen settings? Some setups experience bad performance in full screen, but not windowed. (And vice versa)
If you're running an Aero theme, that can interfere with performance too. (If windowed)
