Anyone else thinks there's a chance that SE will be doing an announcement about the PS3 release at the soon to begin Tokyo Game Show ? The game is getting decent, we have a major update coming soon, 1 year anniversary is next week and Sony + SE are doing a conference together at the TGS (japan being their main playerbase). That would be a great occasion for them to reveal a PS3 launch date.

I reckon 1.19 is gonna be next week, if not, the week after.

Either way, with the amount of content they're putting into one patch I think they'll be walking around with fingers crossed for days hoping it was enough to satisfy the players for a little longer whilst they finish off the rest of the core mechanics.

That being said, as soon as they know the 1.19 has been successfull they may announce a release date for the ps3.

They will need some time to watch the reaction of the community after releasing 1.19 and some important changes come in 1.20. I think it will need some more months before we can expect a PS3 release date.

I am a console gamer, whether I play Xiv or not. You lack the subtlety and insight of the true Picard and disgrace the name with your absurd generalizations sir! I can't get all the achievements of gears of war and play Xiv? Your statements are derived from your own false preconceptions.

Anything they can do to separate the truly skilled from the people with too much free time is alright by me. You can have all hq gear and all combat jobs to 50 and still suck.

    Hugs and kisses.

    So true

Re-worded to what I used to hear once upon a time:

"You can be a level 85 paladin in full epics, doesn't mean you know how to play one well"

Anyways, I'm a console gamer + mmo player + warhammer painter/player + anime fan. What does that make me? Doomed?

Couple of hours, couple of hours there. The changes to the system support a solocentric, login, have something to do, logout mentality. One where you never have to really "get involved" with the persistent world.

    Its unfortunate.

I would love to see a FF MMO title developed solely with a PC MMO audience in mind. My guess is the end result would be a much better game.
Going all the way back to the beginning of this thread, I really do not see how the changes to guildleves "cater" to console players vs PC players.

The PS3 may have had an impact on ORIGINAL design decisions for the game, but since then, I think there has been no influence.

The OP seemed to think less leves but faster resets would be better suited to a PS3 player rather than doing them all at once like we do now. They got this delusion that the whole 4 leves > 12 hours was because of the PS3.

The ps3, in my opinion will be the saving grace of this game, or atleast I hope it will be.

The OP is amused by this. The OP thinks that the latest and greatest changes made to the leve system will kill the economy of the game, pretty much decimate any small opportunity there was in crafting for profit, as well as decimate whatever economy was left in selling materials.

Now you say well, there are actually less leve's available now, but the reality is, not everyone logged in and always did their leve's. I know I haven't done any since well, the better part of 8 months.

So for the majority of players, I would say this change = more leve's.

Since the game is well, in a 'transitional period' and not all of us play it every day, or even every week, I predict the following will occur:

When people do login, who routinely find themselves wondering what it is exactly they are suppose to be doing, and often that conundrum ends with "I guess I'll craft for a while" they will have an enormous amount of saved up leve's to plow through, gaining free shards and free mats from the system to level their crafts for the leve's, as well as some small reward mat as well. This removes the incentive to A) farm and B) purchase mats from the markets when you can just wait until your leve's build up again.

This creates even less incentive to leave town than there is now.

This creates a market that is even more deflated and stagnant than the existing one.

This gives someone who hasn't logged in in 12 days, 99 other things to do besides play with other players.

I believe this change was made to support the casual player. Since there isn't much content, and battle and other things in general still 'need a lot of work', this will at least give someone who does actually login something to do, for free, without having to earn materials or shards. This is effectively a sort of pseudo content addition, even though its not really new content.

Regardless of the vocal minority in this thread, I still stand by the fact that most people that bought this game, as it stands today, for a console, would play it casually at best, and at worst, not at all. This change will allow them to occasionally login and piddle around with crafting for free.

I predict it will further damage the already bad economy rendering crafting for profit (or repairing for profit) as well as selling materials obsolete. I also predict it will further remove players from the battlefield and or party based play. Thus, effectively killing any real group / community outside of the occasional instanced dungeon raid, which is available in 100 other games.

We'll see if I am right within a few months of the change.

I would also reiterate that if you think the developers care at all about the PC audience, then you are sorely mistaken. You are just their test case. As someone else posted, PC games account for a very small portion of the gaming demographic. So there can be no alternative conclusion that this change was made in the interest of the console audience, not in the interest of the PC audience.

For those who continue to say PC gamers and Console gamers are no different, I would just respond that although there are many people who play both, I think we all know what I mean by PC gamer-and that is a different audience. If you cannot acknowledge that, then you are just being obtuse to be obtuse.
