Abandon is not the stance, it's the stacks you'll be getting while in the stance; the stance's name seems to be "Deliverance", which is very odd considering the Japanese clearly call it "Destroyer".

Japanese Defiance is Defender, so they get Defender/Destroyer. Similarly, their Infuriate is War Cry, and in the action preview video it looks like Infuriate can be used to give you 5 stacks of Abandon as well as Wrath. The loc team makes weird changes sometimes.
Back on the topic of Grit - while I think it works just fine, maybe something like "Grim Determination" would be more fitting for the dark theme.

I would like it changed, but regardless of what it turns out to be, i really enjoyed what was presented. The animations/ effects were near spot on (personally I could do with out the flipping sword thing, kinda hope it stays on AuRa, but that's a very minor issue) to what I hoped DRK would be presented as.

What on earth is with all this talk over how the reasoning for Dark Knight having a tank stance called Grit?
A REAL TANK KICKS REASON TO THE CURB AND DO THE IMPOSSIBLE. THIS IS THE PATH ALL GREAT MEN WALK!
JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!
I wouldn't give WAR Grit as an offensive stance. I would call it Rage Monster, Berserk, or Murderererererererer.
With the context given for their function in Ishgard, I do think Grit is at least in the ball park for an tank stance. Now if you wanted to switch the names Grit for Defiance, I think I'd be up for a trade.
'Instead, their greatswords act as beacons to guide the meek through darkness." I mean we really could have gotten a stance called 'Beacon for the Meek' which would have only be acceptable if they misspelled it 'Bacon of the Meek'. Beacon in Darkness would be ok.

I'd really like to see "Anathema" (synonym: ex-communication, curse by the church/palpacy) rather than Grit to hit the lore based on the website thus so far. Maybe even "Heretic" based on their methods.
My perception (Heavensward isn't out yet, all speculation) is that Dark Knight is the unsung hero of revenge and brings justice against injustices by any means necessary. I know Cecil was a Dark Knight and Paladin, but Cecil showed personality changes from the two. "Betray him? Any king who'd wish for this is no king of mine." Whereas a Paladin seeks to serve in the glory of a clause to defend its people, Dark Knight compromises their righteousness by any means necessary to make things right.

I hope the devs are listening. We need the devs to please listen.
What? Grit fits more especially if its gonna be the name for their tank stance ability.I'd really like to see "Anathema" (synonym: ex-communication, curse by the church/papacy) rather than Grit to hit the lore based on the website thus so far. Maybe even "Heretic" based on their methods.

After playing FFT: War of the Lions. I think a proper name for a tank stance is "Darkness"" similar to the skill name of all Dark Knight abilities.

Well we can assume the abandon is part of the term Wreckless Abandon but I guess having the stance be called wreckless wouldn't give off a postive vibe.
I think grit is more of a reference to Man with no name, or the original inspiration Yojimbo. Spaghetti westerns and samurai movies tend to have alot in common normally so it might be the reason they picked that particular buzz word.
The lone warrior that travels the land despensing his own brand of justice. A Gritty take on Eorzea coming this summer in <Movie cut in SFX> Heavensward!
