PS4: how do you quicly switch between sets of crossbars?

Is there anyway to quickly switch between sets of cross bars without holding R1 plus D - pad?

No. But with use of the shared hotbar (l2+r2) you shouldn't need to switch much at all. This allows for 32 total actions. I have mine set so holding the two will bring up set 2.

looks like there may be a way to change hotbars with text commands in macros like we could in XI. Haven't looked into it though, just glanced at the list here:

    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest.../text_command/

There is a hotbar section, and just past halfway down you see commands for /hotbar and /crosshotbar that may give you a means to change them. Something like the old SMN macros in XI where you have a macro that summons an avatar and then flipped you to a book/macro bank for that avatar--the trick was you needed to root some macro slots into navigation within each bank like a return to the main "menu" book/bank and such.

Im going to try this. Im so used to cycling by using L1, its blinding how fast I cycle. but an improved method, I welcome.

    /crosshotbar change 1
    switch to crosshotbar 1

In the config you can also choose which crossbars are switchable with R1 while the weapon is sheathed or unsheathed. So you can choose some crossbars as your battle crossbars.

Under Character Configuration > Hotbar Settings > Cross Tab, enable "Enable Customization for when weapon is sheathed" & "Enable Customization for when weapon is drawn", and for both, check Hotbar 1 & Hotbar 2. The rest should be unchecked. This will allow swapping between hotbars 1 & 2 by tapping the R1 button.

    Should look something like this:

And yes the term "enable customization" instead of "Allow R1 to cycle thru only the following hotbars" is confusing..
