I can't find a single source confirming new Egis to appear in the expansion.

"Leviathan, hmm... I'm not sure whether Ramuh or Leviathan will come first (laughs). I think it'll happen when the level cap is raised, so I really can't say yet."

"As mentioned previously, new egi will be added after a level cap increase, and we'll be sure to provide more details when that time comes!"

I can't find any more confirmations than these that don't link directly back to either of these two comments.

Both are hardly confirmations. The first, from Yoshida, is his musings about the possibility/hope for releasing them for Heavensward. Not saying they would be, which everyone seemed to take as confirmation.

The second, from a community member I do believe, says AFTER the level cap increase. That can certainly be any amount of time after the Heavensward release.

So I'm curious: Are there any true confirmations about new Egis coming in Heavensward? I'm interested in seeing them!

They were scrapped, and i assume it was to devote more resources to improving the job's playstyle quality.

We're getting Egi glamour's though (you can make egis look like other egis, most likely including ones we don't have). So that's something. (but not till much later)

Personally, i prefer the ability to glamour them over having to choose the best of the new ones and ignoring all the others. But that's just me.

Edit: I found it posted in the thread they made to cover the letter from the producer

Never underestimate people's ability to misconstrue. If Yoshi P has ever said something out loud in his life, even in the shower, it was a solemn vow to the players and a convenant sealed in blood.

I think that way back when he said those things, yeah he probably did intend to add more pets to SMN. But then as the design proceeded forward, he realized that the job needed more work than just throwing a couple more pets at it. That's why he talked later about reworking SMN on a broader scale and stopped talking about more egis.

It doesn't mean it'll never happen. It means that the reality of the situation here prevented it from happening right now.

Honestly, if they do ever add in another summon, they need to do it as a base Arcanist summon that then has different versions for SMN and SCH in the same way they did with summon and summon II. The way I'd personally do it is give us a "diamond" carbuncle for the base class, (this could be that white carbuncle that was always shown in promotional art for the class), that is sort of like a middle ground between Emerald and Topaz, with 1.5 times the player's health, (rather than Topaz's 2 times), and with DoTs and debuffs. The basic attack of it could have a slight enimty increasing effect, like Topaz, but it wouldn't have the other abilities of the tanking pet, (AoE enemity gain, defensive buff, and stun). This would of course carry over to the SMN version, making it viable for both solo play and group play, (because at that point if a tank can't keep the enemity from a tank pet, they're not doing their job), while still making it different from the current ones. More of a middle ground for when you need damage at the same time you need your pet to survive, but also with a debuff or two to make it still unique in it's role.....

The SCH version would be a pet that focuses purely on buffs of some sort. It would have the basic healing obviously, but would have some sort of esuna/leeches spell as it's second ability, and it's long cooldowns could be a defense buff of some sort, and a damage buff.....

Just my thoughts on the matter, and in truth a bit irrelevant because it's unlikely we'll be seeing any new summons added to the game. My main point about making it a base skill though is that it would be a bit unfair for SMN to have even more summons while SCH is still left with only two, and it would also be pointless to simply give them both a new individual summon skill when they could make it a base skill as they have done before. Plus, I want that white carbuncle.....

They are good comments, but I really think the bolded should be focused on ^^

From the letter, there is no talk of new Egis, but a mention of perhaps changing what the Egis look like (Swapping the skins, not the abilities)

I would like it very much if I could use Carbuncle as a full powered SMN so I am looking forward to how it might develop.

    From Averex's link above:
During development, we thought long and hard about this, but we will not be adding new egi at this time. Looking at the long-term, instead of adding more pets, we felt it better to give more use to the job by adding actions to summoner. However, I’m sure many are wondering if they will have to continue looking at the same egi forever, but we are planning to add a system in the future that will allow you to change the appearance of your egis, including Carbuncle, but their stats will remain the same.

Honestly, I just want Carbuncle back. I couldn't care less about any other. The skin system isn't exactly what I had hoped for but if its as close as I could get with maybe the potential of better looking versions of the egi's for those whom dislike the current desings I'll welcome this feature with open arms. My only concern is, won't it look strange to have egi that is obviously not Garuda doing wind blade and so forth? If I have Garuda skinned as Carbuncle, won't her name still appear as "Garuda" on screen? I hope they put enough care into this idea to cover those small details.

Because everyone knows that what they look like is far more important than how they function... ugh.

Yeah, it's a huge disappointment for me. I wasn't so much an advocate of new summons as much as I am for having summons which MEAN something. The ones we have are so boring that they barely have a single unique skill to rub between them. Garuda is literally the only one which has a skill of note (Contagion, for those not following) so no one does ANY summoning during combat unless their original pet dies.

I wanted something more dynamic. Swapping between pets as the need arises, special skills for the egi's which give significant tactical advantages to the party. Just something to make them more like a summoner and less like an afterthought. I guess my hopes will remain forever dashed.
