Everyone keeps citing flying as avoiding these mobs.
In the benchmark is shows a group of adventurers flying around, then getting ganked by a giant flying whale thing.
I don't think flying will relieve us from the aggro of the mobs in these new zones personally.
"We have seen many comments where players felt the A Realm Reborn areas were too peaceful as the monster placement in the areas were a bit too easy; however, the monsters in Heavensward are very strong. If you encounter two or more monsters at same time, you’ll either need to fight doing your best, or be prepared to run.
If you plan on stepping in areas such as the beastmen camps, and other dangerous areas, you’ll probably want to talk with nearby players to get through them."
As soon as I read this from the live letter I just sighed and rolled my eyes. If they are listening to the loudest people on this forum then they are listening to the wrong people. Dangerous open world is not going to be what most players want. Just some really vocal players on here want it.
Trying to kill one mob that is hard to kill only to get it halfway and another one wanders over and your screwed and have to run away only to run into another one. That's just annoying. And beastman strongholds are going to be meant for parties instead of soloers. Yay. That will make whats supposed to be quick and easy daily content a pain in the butt. The new beast man dailies will be a serious nuisance.
The more they show of heavensward the less excited I'm getting.

Open world is what builds lasting friendships, and gives the game a real atmosphere. To be honest with you, queing for dungeons allows for people to become bitter and unfriendly, since they will never see you again. If everything was instanced then there would be no need to have an open world at all. I say bring it on!
What the hell? He said it would be risky to take on two at once, you may have to flee, or would be better suited to go with a group, not "lolz everything will oneshot you".
How cowardly are you people?
If you watched properly, you'll see the mobs were spaced out, you're not going to get swamped unless you're stupid. Not to mention mobs (So far) DON'T LINK unless you are A: far above their level or B: In a party.
In addition, it beats the hell out of running through the sylphlands getting heavied by mobs that can't even hurt me. It's BORING and annoying. If I had to fight my way through it'd at least be exciting.

I will be bitter if I have to queue for the open world as well as instances now... lol
So wait a minute... SE is actually going to make the open world dangerous again.... This might just make me this .... much convince to buy the expansion. Any word on the elimination of the vertical progression yet...???
I apologize that I haven't read the whole thread, but my thoughts are thus:
The current open world is too easy. There's just no denying that.
However, I don't want the new areas to be so dangerous that my chocobo and I aren't capable of getting to required quest locations by ourselves. I do however want it to be dangerous enough that if I accidentally pull two mobs instead of one I will probably die. So all I'm saying here is no *required* open world content should force you to be in a party to complete it.
I also think that there should be some optional quests in the open world that do require working together with a party. But these need to be things that are worth requiring a party, like rare treasure maps, high level FATEs (that possibly drop tomes), beast tribe strongholds (that don't require you to enter then for daily beast tribe quests). I hope you get what I mean. Areas that you are never required to go to for story but offer worth while bonuses.
"Challenge" as in, "you're dead if a mob so much as looks at you without someone taking hits and someone making the green bars full"? Yes, that belongs in dungeons and raids. A and S-rank hunt mobs also fall into this.
You can't mount once you have aggro, since it counts as you being in combat.Don't forget we'll get flying mounts so it won't be bad.
Sure, let's screw over people who work irregular shifts and are usually on their own because of it. This is in spite of me having met people along my travels and being part of a decent-sized FC on my server. Having the option to group up for stuff outside of dungeons and raids is nice. Being forced to group up isn't. That's where the difference lies.Maybe people should start making friends and starting FC's so they won't feel so alone.
By 50 and so, you should have some friends or a FC to help you run through.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
the chocobo statement was mostly aimed at "riding your chocbo" through mobs willy nilly . they Slow you and your training like 5-6 mobs you might be in for a bad time XD
