Is it always proper protocol to take such a "holier than thou" approach when someone doesn't share your viewpoint?

I'm up for some civil discussion, but this sort of back and forth really isn't going to get anyone anywhere.

I look at your profile and see you have Arcanist 50 and 2 other classes 35..... What have you done in this game to warrant the complaints you have about abilities and things that have been added to Smn.... seriously.

Have you cleared any of the content that these changes seem to benefit Summoners in ? Have you done anything before it's nerfed/echoed into the ground to make the average player slightly capable to beat it ?

Very serious questions....... It seems most people that are complaining are those that play this for the casual content and that is fine.

The people that actually take their Summoners to the very limit of what they are capable of appear to be very happy with what was presented.

Its pretty relevant. Its akin to preaching on a subject you have little knowledge of. If you cant play SMN well, if you cant clear content with the class- then why are you even trying to give advice on how it should be balanced? (Obviously YOU is pertaining to any indiviudal that argues in such, and is not a slight directed at you specifically)

In his defense i have only ACN, PUG and LNC to 50 and i raid in the top raiding FC on my server. So levels dont matter in regards to clearing content.

I've cleared everything up to Turn 13 , thank you very much. The only reason I haven't cleared it yet is because changes in my employment have left me working literally seven days a week, and I haven't had the time. I'm quite aware of what the job is capable of, and I'm also aware of what directions they could have possibly gone in when adding new abilities.

I would have prefered a direction that gives more meaning to the Egi without throwing off the balance of how Summoner currently performs, but obviously the developers thought otherwise.

I still see no reason for players to call other players crybabies and dissenters because they don't share your vision.

Exactly..... This is why I mostly stay away from the forums and stick to conversations with players that push their jobs to edge of it's limits.........

If don't know how to do that so that you know exactly what Summoner actually needs and doesn't need , you're opinion is extremely watered down.

Just about every issue with Summoner was addressed and people go into riot cause they don't have pretty egis to pet or run around with.


Talk to me about Summoner mechanics pre/post these announcements and how they effect the class and we can have an actual discussion.

If you are gonna cry about a new pet or 2 when the current 3 (and poor carby) need to be improved already , on top of the fact that you don't even take the class into anything that allows you test it's limits , then I'll address you like you want to be addressed.

I'll keep this brief since I'm probably approaching my post limit. (Curse you 2.0 beta forums)

When did I clear? Before the echo. Where summoner was lacking? In my opinion, their ability to burst when it was really needed was somewhat lacking compared to other jobs. Their ability to do area damage beyond four targets also left something to be desired.

How could the Egi improve upon them? This is hard to answer because the developers have already solved those problems without adressing the Egi.

We have a new aoe attack that uses stacks of aetherflow, and another attack that uses stacks of bahamut aether thats no doubtedly going to give us amazing burst damage.

Personally, I would have rather had those new abilities channeled through the Egi to at least give a sense of us interacting with the pet. Use a stack of aetherflow to have Garuda or Ifrit do the aoe attack. Build stacks of "primal aether" (just making up a name) to have the Egi unleash some powerful burst attack.

It's all in the presentation. Some people wanted it presented through the Egi, some people wanted it presented through the summoner himself. Developers chose the latter.

I'm sure nothing I say is going to satisfy you so I'll just leave it at that. But I see you also wanted to see the current egis improved upon unless I misread your posts, so we at least (might) see eye to eye somewhere.
