Did you even read the original post? I said nothing of rotation or dps potential, this is strictly about being lied to and deliberately misled for a year by the dev team as pertains to egis. The amount of disappointment would be minimal if they hadn't spent a year saying we would get new ones in xpac.
The thing is, if you go back to the translations (which are vague), they've always said "probably" and "in the future" or "maybe when level cap is raised". Not once was, as far as I remember, did they specifically mention and confirm "you will get new egi 3.0".
And here's the next thing, once you have an Egi for every single Primal, you'll need to ensure that only only is the Summoner balanced vs every other job, but the Egis are balanced out against each other but also unique. In every competitive scene, there will always be "one build" and one egi will be used more than the rest. This cuts a lot into development time, which is then inevitably wasted, unless they make reskins of the same pet and people will then QQ about that. They could of invested resources into other battle mechanics and areas in the game, so I can genuinely see their decision for not making a completely new Egi.
This is why, whenever a developer says "in the future" for a feature in any game, always take it with a grain of salt in case of disappointment.

Dervy's got it, in a better way than I could say it so I'll just add something of my own: We basically go up to four primals we can use in one way or another with the Dreadwyrm stacks adding in Bahamut. Said stacks also adds in something else for future updates to SMNs, allowing us to basically channel the primals in ourselves which, aside from using their awesome attacks (without the long cutscenes), will also probably be much easier to balance.
Actually now that I think about it, the whole thing with Iceheart and Shiva may have been them foreshadowing their future plans this whole time.
If I remember correctly, Yoshi said that we wouldn't get a new Egi until after the level cap was raised. We may be at the point the cap is being raised, but that just means that it could happen in any future expansion after this point. I really don't understand the whining people are doing over this. Akh Morn will be fantastic.
I personally think it's funny. Weren't summoners limited on the powers we could invoke per lore wise? All of a sudden, we can summon the powers of BAHAMUT. I don't know~
That's a good point. The apparent Shiva/Ramuh/Leviathan Egis might end up being "Trances" instead. We already know we're getting a Dreadwyrm TranceDervy's got it, in a better way than I could say it so I'll just add something of my own: We basically go up to four primals we can use in one way or another with the Dreadwyrm stacks adding in Bahamut. You're upset, why?
