Egi Glamour! Ideas for developers

"We are planning to add a system in the future that will allow you to change the appearance of your egis, including Carbuncle, but their stats will remain the same".

So with the news of us not getting new pets in 3.0 (they didn't say we weren't getting any more ever, just for now) this thread is for posing your ideas about what you would like to see in the egi glamour system. Please refer to other threads if you wish to complain about no new pets, there are several.


Let's try and help them build a system which will make the majority of players happy!

Thing I would like to see:

• Small graphical update on the current egi-skins, they're a little rough around the edges.
• Option to choose between the original egi-skin and a scaled down model of the primal.
• A size scale, within reason of course.
• Option for Emerald Carby in place of Garuda and Topaz in place of Titan.

I suppose it's possible they could let us use the skin of a primal like Shiva with Ifrit's abilities, it doesn't make huge amounts of sense but it would be very nice being able to use our favourite. It also might appease some of the complaints because people are tired of the current models but honestly I think this might create a lot of issues. (Egi glamour disabled during PvP for obvious reasons)

more detail, less glowblob, i dont mind a glowy aura but when the egis body is almost a solid translucent glowy color with an aura on top it just looks awful, even if only for the minion glamours i'd like them to approach the models in a more detailed fashion, kinda like minions in a way?

If they wanna go full-blown on this idea, I'd like to be able to apply an Egi skin to each "Role" (Ranged, Tank, Melee), and have unique animations for each 'skin', with 'skins' for all 6 elemental Primals, and then possibly be able to go on sidequests for skins of Odin, King Mog, Bahamut, and the new Heavensward primals as well. Oh, and Carbuncle skins as well.

However, to be perfectly honest, I'd settle for just the Carbuncle skins. I want my radioactive three-tailed squabbit back!

Actually it DOES make sense.
The Summon I / II / III skills basically state that you're summoning a Caster / Tank / Attacker pet respectively, and not
Emerald Carbuncle - Garuda-Egi / Topaz Carbuncle - Titan-Egi / Ifrit-Egi.
So as long as these keep the same roles, you could change their appearance into whatever you want (like say, Ramuh for Caster or Shiva for Attacker).

They could definitely do it that way, however it would require them to change the appearance of abilities if they didn't want the awkwardness of an ice primal using fire abilities. I just don't see them doing that much work for the glamour system when they have so much else to do. Fingers crossed they do, but not holding my breath.

I like the Lore implications of this - I always believed that it was just a matter of form that the energy takes and Summoners are able to give those forms an extra BOOST by infusing the power of bested primals into the Arcanum framework.

This has been implied along with the hidden/rarely used melee Ruby Carby being able to replace Ifrit in Summon 3.

Ideas:

Palette swaps for current egis. (green felfire ifrit? bloody red garuda? blueberry titan?)

Skins for current egis that makes them look more like mini-me versions of the proper primals.

Skins that change the 3 egis to one of the others we've fought so far. It would be cool if we could swap whatever egi to whatever task (tank, dps, ranged), but that'd be a lot of work, so I'll settle for just having an alternate for each (Like levi <-> titan, shiva <-> ifrit, ramuh <-> garuda) For these the attack effects would be changed to what's elementally appropriate.
