Ixal with wings in the new dungeon preview!

During the live letter one of the Allagan dungeons featured a bunch of Ixal in glass tubes. Unlike those we're used to in Eorzea, however, these Ixal had wings.

The Ixali beast tribe quests revealed to us that the Ixal did indeed used to have wings when they lived on the floating continent of Ayatlan. At some point they lost them somehow, and were stranded in Eorzea building flying contraptions and worshiping Garuda in hopes of restoring their ability to fly.

It would seem we may find out what actually happened to them in the expansion. It's nice to see that the current beast tribe lore won't be completely left to gather dust as we move on to new tribes though.

More of the Allagan genetic experimentation, I'd expect. Those guys seem to really enjoy playing with the gene pool.

Perhaps the Celestial Dragon who looked like an Ixali might be important that we previously thought!

Gee, we really needed more reasons to hate the Allagans and everything they stood for. I wonder if the Floating Continent we've seen is actually Ayatlan, and the Allagans either conquered and re-purposed it, or possibly created the modern Ixal to begin with.

The ixal evolved there wings away after being forced to live on the ground. it's part of the lore, that doesn't mean they weren't experimented on but it's far more likely those are ancient pure ixal or current ixal that have been modified.

i thought the lore (and the ixali beast tribe) said that they got into a war with the elementals due to them cutting tree's down to make nests and homes and the elementals stripped them of there wings, and thats why they turned to Garuda, because she promised them to return there wings if they do favours for her.

Also This seems to be the end boss, the devices on the side of the dungeon where the boss is located look similar to the ones in the above video.

I wonder if the "Lord of Snakes" that Garuda was said to have defeated and feasted upon was an Allagan invention/ experiment?

Perhaps Melusine and her kin are actually Beast tribes that were captured/ stored due to their regenerative capabilities.

In either case, it seems as if the Dreadknights in BCoB are probably modified Ixal.

    Well this makes things interesting...

Anyway, insane theory aside, does it look to anyone else like Ixali and Dreadknights might be related?

I certainly agree that now we know there's a connection between the Ixal and Allagans it's likely they were used to create the Dreadknights/Mirrorknights. That the Lord of Snakes was some kind of Allagan device or person also now seems likely.

Given that the Ixal claim to have an origin in the Heavens would appear to be true I'm curious if we'll see any evidence to support the Moogles' same claim as well.
