    gear upgrades

I have my left sided gear up to date, however on the left side, it needs much of an upgrade. The reason why I'm saying this because the last stage of the Relic Reborn quest involves me to join a 8 player party to take down a chimera beast (average item level of 52, whereas I have an average of 51 ).

Is it right that Wolf Amber gear upgrade is essential? I'm really struggling right now, as I've used up 150k of gil for upgrades, unless theres another way, apart from getting crafting help from fc.

    wait...what?

relic reborn is trivial. at this point there is no reason not to finish it because you won't be walled.

no wolf amber gear is not essential. and wolf gear is pvp gear. your thinking about the i90 crafted.

    just get ironworks.

Oops, sorry, I meant the right side with regards to upgrading. Anyway, the Relic Reborn duty battle has a minimum average item level of 52.
I like to know is how to have an average level of up to 55.

Literally every fight and dungeon from this point forward requires item levels higher than 52. So yes, it's important. You need those primary stats from every piece to continue pushing forward or you will find yourself incapable of joining or even being useful in the content that is ahead of you.

Also, you say fully upgraded on one side, but if that were the case you'd be well above this ilvl requirement. So I have to guess that you have a long long way to go. The maximum ilvl for pieces is 130 right now after all.

You get high ilvl gear by running more high end content. Start with the first Amdapor Keep or Wanderers Palace that don't have ilvl requirements or from Pharos Sirius, Cobberbell Mines Hard, etc that have ilvl requirements that you meet and continue to do dungeons and move forward as you progress in item level. They all drop gear that will push your numbers higher.

probably just has the artifacts on the left side and needs the accessories to match...

You should do hunts and buy gear with that, you can get a full set in about 2-3 days of hunts and that'll get you well over i100.

Do a few lvl 50 dungeons and get your soldiery tomes for free, then spend those on lvl 100 gear and will quickly be past the hump.

a lot of people who do it are i90+, as your getting trials roulette players too. so you basically can go through with little effort.

Do I just leave the relic quest for now?
I've also been stacking up vitality and parry, bringing the amount of hp higher, as I made upgrades.

Yes. The relic is entirely unecessary in the grand scheme of things this close to the expansion. After the initial quest to get the i80 weapon it isn't really worth your time with only a month to go anyway. Focus on gearing up every other slot. Hell, you're having trouble getting into the first fight, but you have hydra, ifrit Hard, Garuda Hard, and Titan Hard after that all with tougher ilvl requirements to meet. In general you need to work on all of your gear not just the weapon. Even if you could do Chimera right now the road block would still be coming sooner rather than later.

Relic is still a nice weapon for starting in lv50 content. But I recommend to only upgrading it to a Zenith relic (ilevel 90), not more.

Try to upgrade every gear lower than ilevel 55. Run serveral times Castrum Meridianum for soldiery tomes. Then buy with them 1 or 2 ilevel 110 gears in Mor Dhona. That should be enough to give you the missing ilevel.
Also look in the market board for a cheap ilevel 55 or 70 weapon, if your current weapon is lower than ilevel 55.
