lol that bird is crazy!
I was scooting around youtube listening to remixes of FF6 Terra's Theme, so I have no idea how I ended up coming across that really XD
Either way it's got me even more hyped for patch 1.19 now, I REALLY do hope they've created another epic version of the chocobo theme we've all come to know and love that I can torment my computer speakers with whilst I ride around on my yellow feathery friend <3
Bird's Owner: *whistle* *whistle*
Bird: NO! o.o
The new Chocobo theme is quite nice, you can find it on youtube if you look
And I remember stumbling across that video a few years ago lol
edit: This would be it.
I know it's hilarious I quoted it as:
Birds owner: *whistle*
Bird: D:< LET ME FINISH! Now from the top. *starts the chocobo them*

Riding across La Noscea plains on your chocobo with the super fun happy 'wild west chocobo theme' playing, suddenly from the sky swoops some great hulking dragon, it smashes into the ground and proceeds to give chase. At that very moment, as you and your chocobo streak across the grasslands, this track kicks in:
This track right here
There is no way in hell that experience would not give a player an adrenaline rush XD
I'd love SE to impliment stuff like this, like a random world boss encounter that comes without warning and plays some almighty super intense battle/chase music, to really dig it's nails into the player and scream "It's life or death!"
It may only be for a couple of minutes, and you could go days or even weeks without coming across something like it, but when you do it's makes your heart-race and your blood boil with excitement!
Actually, let's build on that.
When the dragon slams into the ground, the game switches to a cut-scene of the dragon opening it's maw bellowing a roar like the the seven layers of hell.
The camera then switches to your character, looking back in wide-eyed disbelief with a look of terror on his/her face.
The game then enters into an instance, your action bar is replaced with a variety of chocobo-based functions:
Sprint
Jump
Dive
Duck
A bar appears somewhere on your UI that notifies you of the distance between you and the dragon.
You control your chocobo as well as the camera and everything else. You must then run for dear life, using the chocobo functions to leap over obstacles, dive under over-hanging ledges and duck under low branches/falling trees, failure to avoid an obstacle causes you to slow down for a moment, so then you use the sprint function to regain ground whilst the screen is constantly shaking as the dragon stomps it's way forward to exact your untimely demise, all the while playing some awesome chase music that intensifies as the experience unfolds.
Managing to stay out of the dragon grasp for a set period of time or getting enough distance away from it results in a successfull escape, you are then awarded with something like an achievement, xp or a special event item.
If the dragon catches you it results in failure, which could be something as harmless as falling off your chocobo and the dragon passes by (you would not lose your chocobo), or it burns you to a toasty crisp, at which point you are automatically teleported to the nearest camp from where you began the 'instanced event'. (Again still with chocobo in possession, 'cos it'd suck to lose it from a totally random encounter)
One of the things this game shines at is it's amazing cut-scenes and fun storytelling, as well as a pretty impressive graphics engine, so something like this would be a wonder to behold and a truly epic experience.
It also pays homage to ye old single-player final fantasy games, where battles and encounters were completely random, and sometimes you would random blunder into something you'd never expect.
Other areas could have area-specific event enemies too, such as Black Shroud having a Treant or Malboro, and Thanalan having something like a giant sandworm or some such.
Just a nice random addition to the game that would make the world fell more alive and open to ever-increasing possibilities.
Trying to think of how this same idea could be used in a multiplayer fashion, which would be better.
I guess if they added custom Linkshell owned airships your group could be moved into an instance whereby some huge wind-serpent/dragon/other giant flying critter chases after your airship.
Some members of the group have to operate cannons to stun/slow down the opponent, whilst other members have to fight off a swarm of smaller and weaker enemies that land on the airships deck, perhaps have another player shoveling coal into the airships furnace to keep it's speed up whilst the player piloting has to steer the airship around some kind of air-based obstacles.
Failure would result in your group falling overboard and finding themselves at the nearest camp/city they were at before boarding their airship, success could result in grand company marks/xp/event items.
Note: The airship would not be lost or damaged in anyway, as it would be unfair to lose something so valuable over a random encounter. It would simply act as if your group had disembarked.
your idea, all of it. it makes me feel funny in my pants...DO WANT! granted its unrealistic in that squeenix wouldnt do it, but still...
