so are you all telling me you would rather have a new summon, which will inevitably make one more skill useless, as opposed to a skill that will make the class stronger as a whole and actually put summoners back in end game?

Exactly, they simply chose to prioritize fixing the core job rotation. New Egi will come eventually most likely via this mentioned glamour system. I mean come on guys, it's not like Yoshi is sitting in a board room somewhere with his team, thinking "ok guys who can we piss off this time"...These decisions were made for a reason and if you have any knowledge of actual games development you will understand exactly why they did this.
