These arguments about Bahamut being exactly like old-school summons might hold more weight if we had more than one. As if having one single skill suddenly makes up for the fact that 95% of our rotation has nothing to do with our summons.

How neat would it be if they implemented a feature where you absorb your egi's power and turn into it yourself for a short time?eh? eh? Lalafell summoner absorbs Ifrit Egi and turns into a Lala-sized Ifrit and the hotbar changes to Ifrit's moves. Claw Swipe > Dash > AoE knockback > Flame breath > Plumes > Inferno Special. Same with the other primals. hm? hm? o.o

RIP summoner?! WHAT?! DID YOU NOT SEE THOSE TOTALLY AWESOME NEW ABILITIES THEY GET?!
So excited

RIP? Well.... Good bye fair weather summoners. See you, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Otherwise, this is amazing. I hope this Bahamut trance is the first of what I hope will be a future mechanic for us. Who knows, maybe we'll see more? Ifrit/Garuda/Titan/etc Trance? I'm so stoked for the expantion now I can't believe it. I was hoping we'd possibly get Baha in some way for the LB3... and my friends laughed saying never. But to get him THIS way? I mean... WHAT?! YES!!!
Also curious on the Egi changes. They mentioned possibly changing with our spells? Maybe rouse/spur might temporarily change them into bigger more developed versions? That might be cool.. .Rouse/spur... suddenly somewhat smaller versions of the full primals (or close to it). Also, I know some people were wanting to see Carbuncle again, also good news for them.
Mechanics wise.. I mean.. all our dots on in one shot? Bahamut stuff aside, that's amazing. And didn't they mention it was AoE to boot? So easy Dot application, MORE interaction with our pets (more abilities), AND tons more burst? This is exactly what we needed. If you're a smn.. and you're all RIP.. then Good riddance. Go play something else, SMN doesn't need ya.![]()

I am disappointed that we aren't getting new egis, but at the same time, it makes sense.
I was very apprehensive about the devs being able to add new egis without either completely over-shadowing the current egis in their roles or being useless compared to them.
Simply letting us use a different-looking egi for different roles sounds like it puts this concern to rest. I'm just hoping we don't have to wait too long....

My only complaint, is that they make it sound that we won't have the egi-reskin feature until.. much later. I really just want that as soon as possible, I am happy with the rest of the changes\additions, but this is an evil little tease and we need it so badly. It'll make me feel better about the class a whole. (I love my little glowing radioactive squirrel, okay?)

A pet job not getting any new pets in the expansion and you can't figure out why people are upset?

The outrage would ring less hollow if so many people hadn't spent the better part of 2 years bitching about the egi's in every conceivable way. You have a Summon to fill all of the roles the game offers at the moment so I'm not even really sure what SMNs were hoping for. So that Leviathan would replace Garuda and Shiva could replace Ifrit and Ramuh could replace Titan? Well good news! With an glamour system, now they can!

Actually I still need a pet that is straight AoE dps and one that is straight single target. The outrage would ring less hollow if so many people hadn't spent the better part of 2 years bitching about the egi's in every conceivable way. Pet abilities were not even talked about extensively in the Live Letter. They only mentioned about adjusting them to make it so that not only one Egi gets used because it completely overshadows the others. So, please don't jump to conclusions until we get an official announcement or get the actual patch notes (which they are going to read out soon).
