Hello,
I thought that Kirin was based on eastern dragon tradition, am I wrong?
Maybe translation mistake?

Have you looked at their face?
I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.
Right. It's usually described a as a cloven creature of draconic features.
Random note; it's also referred to as a Chinese unicorn.
No, that is correct. A creature like that exists in mythology, it's just the fact that lions have always been so widespread and obviously native all over Japan, the appearance doesn't match what we call lions. But yeah. It's only confusing for us.
(Also: be glad the mount's not a giraffe. Though maybe that would be more interesting than "yet another horse".)
Looks like a lion to me.
