Where's my Macros?!

When I logged in today my hotbars were all empty, and my macros 'hub' had been wiped! I had to re-do them all from scratch! Any clues?

Did you recently reinstall the game or do something else that may have erased game files? Your macros are stored locally and not on the server. For Windows they are stored in a file within your MyDocuments/MyGames under a character folder nested under an ffxiv folder. You might be able to recover from a backup or system restore...provided there is a recent backup.

No, nothing untoward. I played, went to bed, got up logged in for a quick play before work & they were gone...all I did was go to sleep. No updates, nothing. I thought maybe I had been hacked but with the one-time password & also the fact that I get password-lockout if anyone outside my country tries to get in I doubt this is the case (although I am no expert!).

Ah well, they have all been reset now manually, so hopefully it won't happen again. I was just a little bit curious as to how it could happen in the first place.
