It did the same for meso now I have to wait. Kind of sad seeing a 50MBPS connection download the client at 1.1 MB or lower with the client...

Dang. Its gonna get slower, as more people start d/ling off the server. I am stuck with at 0.58 MB/s (highest Ive got) . Time remaining: Appro 312 minutes...
All these hours later and I just have this to show for it. What is that download speed... seriously
I had this issue as well when I tried to log in this morning. After rebooting my PC, and trying 3 or 4 times it finally just let me log in
This helped, thank you!Supposedly you should only need to download http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/na/ that again, as it will update the launcher first. It isn't supposed to overwrite newer files with older ones. If people think they have to download 17GB, then they likely uninstalled the entire game first.
If it's like any other MMO, all you really need to do is roll-back the version number.
eg go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot
Open ffxivboot.ver and see if it has 2015.05.20.0000.0001 in it.![]()
Did you tell it 'yes' to uninstall and then it didn't actually uninstall?
You typically aren't downloading directly from SE... they often come from mirrored servers.
Downloads will often pause periodically in stages as individual patches are unpacked and installed, and then resume again, so in the scope of the whole process it may not be an accurate indication of the speed you are actually downloading at in real time. You can open resource monitor (resmon from search/run box) to see a more accurate reflection of your real-time throughput.
Otherwise, if you are indeed getting choked, that could be because of a screwy routing policy that is slowing things down (false-positive for P2P or something), or there may be some elevated congestion along the path. If you open resmon, you can see the address the launcher is actually downloading from and then you can get the path checked out. Might find that it is somewhere in Massachusetts or Amsterdam (like the Akamai connection I get patches from, 23.62.6.81--it shows up as Cambridge, MA). If there are issues along that route, your ISP might be able to look into things on your behalf.
