Worried all of a sudden; Regarding PSN download/physical disc

Hey guys, I was thinking of getting the digital collectors edition for PS4 (When it's finally up on PSN, should be soon as it has been released in the JP store today) but then I thought.. Will the digital edition match my physical edition? Like.. I dunno if it's a dumb question or not, but will it work? I can start FFXIV without the disc, so I figured it's just an add-on and can download and infuse like an expansion for say Battlefield or something.. I'm just a little uncertain since people keep saying different things.
Can someone clear this up for me please? Thanks in advance!

The only difference between a "hard copy" and a digital copy is that one of them has the disc that allows you to install most of the game itself before continuing the download. The code not only grants you a one-time access link to an SE account but also gives you a digital download version of the game. Essentially, you're paying the same amount but getting a disc as an extra.

With PS3 and PS4 users, however, there is a difference: PS3 users will be able to launch the game from the application listed under Game, not the disc (which you can still do so by selecting the Blu-Ray disc icon, but this is not needed).
PS4 users, if installing from the disc, must always launch the game from the disc because of the way the game is installed onto the system. However, if PS4 users, instead, download the game using the code from the "hard copy", they don't need the disc inside the drive to launch the game afterward.
This is the same post I gave to someone else earlier. If the game continues to function in the same manner (giving you code inserts with the expansion itself as well as the physical disc), then you shouldn't need to start the game with the disc in the tray as the game was firstly a digital download (provided you're a PS4 user).

PS3 users wouldn't need to worry either way as the game itself becomes a downloaded application; the disc is not needed at all to start it.

    Thanks! That solves my question.
