Ppl that are active during the EU Time zone ( EU peak hours ), you could be NA/JP and active during those hours aswell. But its all semantics and a moot point, its still not an EU server or world even.

You do play on Ragnarok the "EU world", its rather irrelevant as its still in canada. Wouldnt you agree that regardless of what the worlds are called as long as they are located in EU, everyone that wants to go there on its release should be able to do so. Regardless of where they live in the world.

I think we all want the same thing to enjoy the game as the best gaming experience it can be, and high latency and packet loss is severly hindering that objective for some players. And as a sidenote just because i dont have other ppls problems doesnt mean their problems dont exist, and vice versa.

Nah.. You know, in 1.0 it was international servers only we had no EU neither american it was all mixed "i liked that ".
like many post before me, some EU community had decided this is the server where most we eu players gona be playing. Like balmung and sargatanas It had plenty of eu players.
But before 2.0 we all had chanse to save our data choised a data center and witch is today legacy servers.
So you had your chance if you played in 1.0 other then that is just ur self and bad eu community.

    So bad luck..

And I think SE should compensate it somehow.
Just because a group claims a server doesnt make it so. Sargatanas was not EU server, and what about the massive amount of NA players from the merge? They are screwed because a couple ppl claimed it as EU.. sure. It being an unofficial Eu server is news to me anyway. Its like assuming every person on balmung is there by choice and loves ERP.

Prior to ARR's launch SE posted on the Lodestone which legacy servers were going to go to which regions. At that time all 1.0 characters were offered free server transfers, with none of the current gil restrictions. So yes they already gave everyone an opportunity to change to an appropriate server for free, you choose to stay on a server that was being designated NA.

To be fair: given that Sargatanas and the actual EU servers were all going to be hosted in Canada, there was no real reason for EU players to move to Ragnarok. Add to this the situation at launch where servers were packed, and you'll have plenty of EU players on NA servers and vice-versa.

The playerbase also had no reason to believe that an EU datacenter was going to come along.

Now that an actual EU datacenter will exist, they should offer free server transfers to both NA and EU players. Transferring Houses and such though? That's unrealistic.

I'm in the same situation of having an EU FC on NA server and possibly in interested moving to EU server when they'll actually be in EU. I would like SE to consider a system for moving a whole FC from a server to another (while of course leaving FC members the option to stay). In any case, server changes from EU accounts to the new actual EU data center should definitely be free (one time).

At the most they could give free server transfers when the EU datacentre is ready, they could restrict it to only moving to an EU world if they wished.

As it is I have no plans to move, I don't want to leave my friends behind, I'm doubtful I could get a better connection if they put the servers somewhere silly like the edge of eastern europe (for the best connection for the whole continent) and I don't need a better connection, I've got a better connection to the canadian servers than half of america (a single ocean is better than going through the whole of america).

Everyone is assuming the EU servers will be placed in the centre of western europe.

I don't think there is any Internet hub that could support a data center more Eastern than Germany.

A lot of MMOs (off the top of my head I can name WoW, Rift and WildStar) with an EU datacenter have it located in Frankfurt, Germany. I don't know why, but I imagine they might actually have good infrastructure right there for some reason. It is not unreasonable to assume, until we're told otherwise, that FF14 will also get put in Frankfurt.

It is unreasonable to assume that, as this is SE we are dealing with not other MMO companies, do other MMO companies put servers on the east coast of canada?

What if they get worried about eastern russians not having a good connection to the english speaking datacentre, russia is also in europe.

Based on past history making a sensible assumption about the datacentre would be a bad idea.
