    SERVER WARP!!!!

    I've been kind of sad that i picked the least populated server. I mean I love Kashuan, but I still suffer from server envy.

    What if we could Server Warp? It would have to be limited so that everyone wouldn't end up on the same server. but it would open up a hole new world of friends (17 worlds actually). Here's 3 possibilities of how it might work.

    1- Maybe we could actually warp to another server for a short period of time. maybe like 15-30 minutes?

    2- It would look very much like the Lens of Truth in Ocarina of Time. you would only see and talk to the other players. There would be no parties between servers, only communication and trading.

    3- Two servers would be linked only in the chat box. We would be able to send someone on another server a /tell. We would not see them or be able to trade with them, But we could still say Hi to them.

    1 and 2 would never happen, but 3 seems somewhat realistic. These are just a fantasy, I know that the servers could not support this feature in their current state. But do you think it would be nice?

    3 sounds like the RealID system Blizzard put into Warcraft, you could talk to anyone in your RealID list regardless of what faction and server they were on. Quite usefull that was.

    It would be a nice feature, though you'd have to have people to talk to on those other servers in the first place.

    They could perhaps add it if they fix the party search menu, so instead of just trying to find parties in your area on your server, it looks on all servers, when it finds one, any players just join that party is instanced into that server for the duration of the party, and then moved back upon leaving the party, which would make getting groups for dungeons and stuff better.

    A good idea either way, but it'd be pretty tough to impliment.

    It would be a good idea, but there are problems

    1. Transfering to another server for a short period would be useless, what can you do in that time, party? It would not be worth it, NMs would affect the economies of the servers, because drops would go to another server to be sold and SE uses drop rates to help control economy as much as they can, say somone moves from Kashuan to Mysidia to kill some NMs and sells any drops on Kashuan, this takes the flow of gil from Mysidia to Kashuan, and if everyone did that it could ruin the economy on Mysidia, while causing mass inflation or deflation on Kashuan for certain gear.

    2. Trading between servers has the same effect on the already broken economy as number 1.

    3. This would only work if you put the server name infront of the character name for tells incase of any conflicting names. People already want to get rid of surnames because they dont see the point in having to type first name and surname, what about if you had to add server name as well, take me, to send me a tell you would have to type
    "Mysidia Delsus Lionheart" which is just not practical, especially in a fight or craft.

    These are the reasons I believe SE would never add them, it wouldnt take much work to the servers to allow any of them, its just programming the features, all servers are connected via the lobby anyway, so it would just be a copy of data which is easily programmed, but the effects on the game would be too much for them, not to mention the raging on the forums like "my Dodore Doublet is worthless because people just jumped servers to get the mats and undercut us all" or "the first name surname was bad enough to send tells, why should I have to now type the server name as well?"

    Issue would be RMT if you can trade then they can sell gil at any server they want without having so many RMT on each World. I don't like the idea of opening it up from servers to server it would happen like in WoW where everyone sit in city and wait for people from other world to do dungeon,pvp and such.

    Best you can do is reroll which you can get all the level you have within a few days or 2week if your casaul. Or wait for the ps3 reason when all the severs would by flood by ps3 players.

    The second option says no parties only communication and trading

    So if the first option were used you could do anything, and if the second option was used you could trade, which would break the game.

    Actually I did mention parties in the second paragraph of my post, but only for the purpose of doing dungeons and suchlike. Since many boss drops aren't tradable anyways, someone aquiring it through partying with people on a seperate server wouldn't have any effect on the economy as the only way to obtain gil from it is to sell it to a vendor, which would be exactly the same as spending an hour killing star marmots to sell marmot pelts to a vendor for 500 gil each.

    Then if SE removed the XP/SP gain from killing enemies in dungeons, the only purpose for going there would be the gained loot. People wouldn't abuse the 'dungeon party search' tool as a quick way to level up like they did in Warcraft, so you wouldn't end up with hundreds of people sitting around Ul'dah waiting for their dungeon invite. Dungeon invites wouldn't come as often, but the people who enter it would be focused on the task of finishing the dungeon for goodies, rather than just trying to gain a rank or 2.

    Or restrict how many times you could go into a dungeon using the party tool per-day, so as to stop people abusing it for levelling and reducing the strain it could cause on the servers as players bounce between one server to another for dungeons.

    Though thinking on it all now, it's much better just to find a Linkshell on your own server full of friendly people and play the game with them, as it offers a more sociable personal experience, rather than meeting random people for an hour that you may never meet again for the rest of your time on the game. Better to spend time with friends than waste time with strangers.

    sorry, I made this thread like 4 hours ago. I forgot to delete the tab in Firefox. I took a break from crafting and saw this on my other monitor and though that i had forgotten to post it. =(

    Why not just request migration option to another server instead of a temp warp?
