Like you mentioned. Atma grind and atma books before the nerf and even with the nerf, it would take someone spending 8-10 hours a day on relic at least a week or two to get a Zeta. People took from Zenith to Animus a week to get. What,s the point to grind the relic now if you're gonna save less time than it takes?
My argument remains... The Relic is pointless now. What's the point to call Relic BiS on content that've been nerfed (Echo) Relic would worth only if you get someone permenently that new players won't get and would understand like a mount or title.
Well, you did mention we get the «Z» title so thats something you are contradicting yourself in... but that doesnt matter *toss that card away since I dont wanna derail*
Pointless? Well, I won't lie to say that I find it pointless to make a second one, specially now. But as someone who already has a Zeta for his main class, I dont feel it was a pointless achievement, in my personal opinion, like yours is very yours.
1st Zeta does feel very good to get, imo.
2nd one? Err, no thank you.
But then again, pointless? Isnt that rather the depressing way to look at this?
As I said, we know nothing about what they will bring, I presented those examples as ideas of what could possibly come forth and that maybe the Zetas could somehow alleviate...
So, since there is nothing, it is just as worthless to make them as they are worth to make... there are just too many unkowns:
- 3.1 Release (when?)
- 3.1 Relics (what will they require?)
- Usefulness of the 2.0 relics for the 3.0 content (isnt lvl 55 gears supposed to surpass them as well as all ilvl 130 gears?)
- Experience required to reach lvl 60 (there is supposed to be a 50 hours worth of storyline with cutscenes and all that covers from lvl 51 to 60 for one job, maybe, how much experience will be exactly required to reach the new lvl cap?)
If anything, even the idea that Zetas will be used and help boost the start up of 3.1 relics has a grade of uncertainty... as in... will they really count at all?
One thing they do give tho, that a new player definitely won't have, is the possibility of glamouring the new weapons with them. And that example was already given :/

well to be fair, anything's gonna be obsolete soon after heavensward hits.
the coil stuff that took groups hours and hours to beat, the poetic stuff everyone capped diligently every week, and like everything else.
we're all f*cked if you look at it that way.
Threads like these are really depressing... Relic weapons are the best weapons in the game (after Novus), and likely to stay that way till we hit level 60 and can start in on Mythics. Yes, I say level 60 because, frankly, the dungeon weapons are likely going to be more random spread weapons like all the other non-Relic weapons and we weren't able to start Relic until we beat Ultima Weapon and completed the final Job quest for a given class and that wasn't till level 50. One dungeon weapon might have good stats, but will they compare to our hand-picked, personally tailored stat spread on the Relic? Not hardly. Mythics are going to be the next big thing, but they aren't going to be immediately available.
Blizzard? FFXI implemented a level cap raise (2002) before WOW was even announced (2004), so I don't know why you blame wow.youre a bit late to complain about this. the problem is simply : LEVEL CAP RAISE = FULL RESET. thats it. if you dont want a relic quest to stop or end you HAVE to not make level cap raises. a raise needs to be a reset. otherwise new players get fucked over completly by it. blame blizzard for inventing this BS system of cap raises. before wow many mmos never raised thier cap and it went well. what a suprise. level cap raises actually are lazy design and create the illusion of progression while in fact they are resets.
FFXI's Level cap did not negate everything. Some Lvl 50ish gear was still BIS at 75 due to the games design.
XIV's level increase/patchs completly make all older gear throw away stuff. This was not the norm until WoW... so yes this is 100% WoW's fault because everyone copied their progression model of throw away content.
For me I am glad I called this after the first stage of relics in 2.0. I saved myself 100s of hours of wasted time grinding the now vanity item. I will not touch the 3.0 relics with a 10foot pole either because more then likly they will also be throw away vanity gear come 4.0 and still take 100s of hours of grind.
The gear model XIV using is just pure fail. Sure it is good for new players, but it sucks for anyone who put in work prior.

Then, can you find be a proof they will remove the previous step of the relic?
If they remove the quest and the possibility to get the title, it would worth doing it on my WHM (That is an alt btw, I'd never grind 2 Zeta on the same character)
If they don't remove it, new players will just be able to get the glamours and title. This is only assumptions. It would be extremely unfair for us if they decided to remove the title because they should have mentioned before.
Zeta won't boost the new weapon with stats customization because it would screwed DRK, Machinists and Astros.
The main question is... What's the point of doing the Relic at this point? We don't know.
Weapons are likely to get replaced around level 55. Gear will helpa t start but new items will eventually be superior.
