I like the fact that people arent forced to move map to map as they level, and can go anywhere to get -some- gains in progression.
This results in a more geographic dilution of the populace, so that no single zone is too saturated.
Does ANYONE do North Thanalan fates anymore? For my last few classes I grinded South Thanalan (the beast tribe areas) since those fates are a little easier for solo players, spawn faster, and are generally closer together. On my server, North Thanalan seemed to stop being a thing when atma were introduced (available in S. thanalan) and became impossible when Hunts were added due to people mass murdering the earth sprite fate. North thanalan fates just don't seem to scale well to large or small numbers of players, while the south thanalan fates are much easier to do with any size party.
Outside of the Chimera I've seen/participated in N. Than fates both on my current server and on Balmung when my main was there. In 2.45 there seemed to always be atleast on group on Balmung, Greg seems to have much less. That said currently I find dungeon runs and (for 40-50) Grand Company leves to be much better for leveling than fates outside of the challenge log boosts.
We'll see how it goes come xpac.
I still do N. Than. I mean by 45 ~20k per fate is pretty nifty. On my server they are done just as fast as Coerthas. So ~15k vs ~20k? N. Than beats it.
