Nice shots everyone! I ran into Jester during a trial roulette a few days ago and got a quick pic with him. (I was going to commend you, but you left as I was doing it TwT)

Thunderstorms are so rare, my original idea was to add the lightning by using Markab, then I caught one at night in Upper La Noscea and I went "If this isn't DARK and STORMY, I don't know what is!" But I still love my original shots in the Shroud getting pelted with Lightning by a Sylph... It was a tough decision for me.

    MORE LA NOSCEA SHOTS

    ENTM C6 - Week 4 Results!

Week 4 has come to an end my friends, so lets see who took top spot's!

First off, let’s go ahead and look at the critiques~

    #TEAMROPO

    Eldaena:
Katarh Mest - Ahoy! I really liked this idea a lot. Your lighting and posing was great. A few things I would have liked to see different: Pretty much a screenshot taken from the opposite direction. I don't think the back shot is helping you more than a front shot would have, and I would have rather seen the icy spikes rather than the crabs on the shore. Other than that, keep up the good work!

Kimberlynne Highwind - This picture is kind of cute. To me it looks like your hands are catching the rain drops and I enjoy seeing the reflective lighting on the water. I like your housing/waterfall background a lot as well. You look sort of surprised that it suddenly started down pouring, but honestly, you should probably take shelter! =p Nice work, see you next week!

Caimura Rathe - I like that you are trying something different with this screenshot. The rain and decorations hanging from your shelter are a nice touch. I'm trying to warm up to back shots more, but I just can't help feeling closed off from the characters when I only see their backs. Concept is cool, not as outstanding as some of your other works. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you. =)

Lior Xanthos - I'll start out by saying this is a really cool angle, and I'm liking it a lot. You captured the lightning too which is always difficult, I've tried! lol The only thing that bothers me at all, and this is only if I focus on this, is it kind of looks like you're standing in a tree or a bush, but like on the side of it? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it looks rather amusing lol Cool shot, so keep it up!

Sangriah Valere - Your pose makes me think of like a Gothic opera singer or something! lol Beyond that, I didn't really know where the rain really played in as much. I like the Gothic-esque look and feel, but I have to wonder why she wouldn't just go back in the house? lol Lighting is pretty good, but it seems a bit warm against the cooler light from the stained glass window. I'm sure you meant to have the Ahriman in your background as well, but overall, I found them a bit distracting. I think mainly I liked the dark silhouette of the foliage in your background to be more charming than everything that's going on to your left hand side. But I get where you were coming from, so good job!

Poppy Milkweed - Trying to find your concept here, other than a misguided ninja standing in the rain! lol I feel like the branches at the top and the rock to the front right are encroaching too much into your territory. Also, the background to me looks a bit too messy to compliment your pose. I can see the rain well and I liked the lighting weapons in this, but overall I feel like I lose you in all the craziness going on around you. Looking forward to seeing what's next, good luck!

    Masha:

    Caimura Rathe of Balmung
A back shot! And it pays off! The scene is communicated at a glance and the cave’s natural framing is amazingly fitting to create a kind of intimate atmosphere. In this case being a lalafell works very well, because it brings out this “tiny person vs nature is helpless” feeling better than any other race could! I worry though that you might get lost in the picture. You are sitting in front of a rather dark scene, so lighter clothes and maybe even hair (or maybe a hood?) would help counter the blending in problem.

    Katarh Mest of Lamia
Backshots are always a risk, but in my opinion it pays off here. A wonderfully lit, badass pose. There is an argument to be made for random poses without context being a bit of a pet peeve of mine but in this case I don’t care much. Great glamour as well, I love that top! I’m a bit torn over the choice of spear here, because to me it clashes a bit with the glamour, but matches with the scenery well. You chose a very interesting background here and the rock structures serve you well with filling the frame and keeping it interesting.

    Kimberlynne Highwind of Malboro
A very nice picture, with a cute pose. Sadly, I felt compared to a lot of the other entries it felt a bit standard, as in not daring/innovative or engaging enough. It’s a safe picture, but often enough in a competition it pays off to try something dynamic and/or maybe a little odd to put yourself in scene. Experiment with angles, both in your poses and from your camera. Work with your background, a lot of the scenery is oddly cut off here, and a standard centered camera often feels simplistic unless you’re doing something very interesting and/or the background almost demands it for composition reasons.

    Lior Xanthos of Gilgamesh
That pony! Wonderfully chosen and excellent timing with the lightning in the background. Great play with angles and depth as well with the plants in the foreground. A great picture, but in a reoccurring problem I see with you, I am worried that you blend in too much with your background. In black clothes, on the dark back of the horse, with a dark sky behind your, plus fairly zoomed out, you are almost an afterthought as I observe the glorious shiny mane of the pony. Either you must put yourself well in scene so you outshine your surroundings in a dark night, or you must choose to forgo the black clothes and opt for something brighter, so you set yourself apart. Otherwise you really run the danger of being a bit forgotten.

    Poppy Milkweed of Cactuar
I was a bit unhappy with this picture because along with a few others that just seemed a bit too light in the sky for me to think of it as a “dark and stormy night”. The location is well chosen, I imagine the crystals would serve as good indirect light sources in the night sky (if there was one >.<) and I really like how you utilized the tree and rock as framing devices. I am a bit worried about your glamour. If it were night, you would very much blend in, so an indirect light source like the sun minion would have been a must. Conversely I worry about your daggers being a bit too flashy and taking attention away from you, although I agree that thematically they would certainly match well.

    Sangriah Valere of Excalibur
Wonderfully nice and atmospheric, with great lighting to put you into scene. You put a great bit attention to detail into this and it definitely pays off! The only downside I can see here is your facial expression, which takes a lot away from the overall effect. It’s way too friendly and welcoming in a setting where something taunting and sinister would work much better. Remember that you can overwrite the expressions of emotes with the facial expressions to give emotes a whole new level of possibility!

    #TEAMTY

    Flare:
Bastien Felicieux: So this is a beautiful shot! I'm loving the camera angle; your pose brings a more lighthearted approach to a more seemingly serious theme. The colors in this picture are what down it for me. Everything just comes together smoothly.

Gangly Zilla: Ma'am, don't look now, but the rain is about to ruin your wonderful night at the beach. This is another one that gave a lighthearted feel to this round. The natural lighting helps this shot out a lot, and I'm glad you chose not to use the sun minion for this.

Iris Dawnshade; Don't mess with Iris this week! Simply beautiful! One of my favorites this week. Everything flows together really nicely. One of the best backgrounds this week by far.

Jester Ehrenfeld: This is a good picture. I think it might suffer a bit from being so far away from your person and expression but I think I know what you were trying to go for in this shot. Nice background and use of the minion.

Mackayla Lane: Another one of my favorites this week. Wonderful use of the crystals in the dark background. Your person almost gives me a creepy vibe but works wonderfully in this shot.

Nadede Lasalle: This shot almost gives me a "Sailor lost at sea" vibe and I love it. It looks like your all by yourself in the middle of the ocean becoming scared and paranoid of what’s to come next. Whatever you do, please don't jump!

Shayera Tano: This is really cute. Makes me feel like you and your red panda survived a horrible storm and the next morning, you were greeted by a rainbow. Nice work all together.

    Marik:

    Bastien Felicieux of Balmung:
Hmm… turned around I see… risky… I love it! For this particular shot, it works and works amazing! This shot is so well done, I’m so in love with everything going on here! With the background, and the lightning strike! OMG SO BEAUTIFUL! My one gripe would be that I’m not sure how well the glamour works here; I mean I get a vibe of dancing in the rain maybe? It’s a small nitpick, but it still works for the most part. Again just amazing job this week, love, love, LOVE your rain stormy dance realness!

    Gangly Zilla of Cactuar:
What a different and odd take on this particular theme… gorgeous!!! I really love the thinking outside the box this season, you models are on FIRE! (Or for this theme, would be on water?) Anywhoozles, I just love this shot so much and easily has to be one of my favorites this round! Everything is on point, from glamour, to lighting and background and positions! I LOVE that feel of just giving caution to the wind on a stormy night and saying “I’m a rebel! BEACH PARTY!” just 10’s all around, love it! Keep up the beautiful work Gangly!

    Iris Dawnshade of Hyperion:
AAAAA-mazing! This has to be one of the most beautiful and well executed shots this round! I am in absolute love with this! Your background, lighting, NPCs in back, and just… it’s all so cohesive and works so well! Glamour is super on point and works so amazingly for your particular shot! Angle and structure is really nice as well. Definitely a very well rounded and just well executed shot! /clap Good Job!

    Jester Ehrenfeld of Balmung:
Such a playful shot with this theme, I really like the outside the norm themes going on here! I love how you’re having a lil’ parade marching through the Hinterlands in not so pleasant weather! Concept, lighting, and glamour is on point as well as I love the minion action too! My one gripe on this shot though is I’m not sure the centered shot or the angle really works all too well with this, the column just right beside you just seem out of place almost. It’s all a beautiful shot, but from the current angle and perspective I feel it just isn’t cohesive enough. Other than that though, this is another amazing stormy night shot! Love it!!

    Mackayla Lane of Balmung:
Ooo such a lovely, dark, and mysterious shot! I’m so intrigued by what’s going on, I’m already sucked in like a great book! The glamour, angle, background and you are all on point and brilliantly so! I love the atmosphere going on as well, the lighting is a bit skewed, but for the atmosphere of this shot, it works. Really just an amazing job, I love it!

    Nadede Lasalle of Hyperion:
Arrrgh me matey! Pirate couture going on here! This is just such a superb shot! I love the idea and the execution going on here! The weather, the background, your pose and angle just all work here! The glamour is so on point; I think there is some buried treasure nearby… (OH NO PUNS!, I’ll stop lol) Just such an amazing job this week from you! The one thing that caught me off guard was your pose, but there are just a bazillion things going on in my head wondering what is going on, I love the guessing game and it works! You sell everything here and I wanna come aboard and sail away with ya for that treasure! Great job!

    Shayera Tano of Faerie:
So pretty, and so cute! I love your glamours and your lil’ friend there, it’s working quite well for you. I love that you got the rainbow behind you and I definitely see where you were going, but I’m not entirely sure it all comes together. I feel you’re a bit zoomed in, cutting yourself off and making the shot much smaller than it should be. I love what I can see of your glamours, but cutting yourself off can really cut off a perspective. I do love the atmosphere and feel of it, but I’m not entirely sure it reads “One dark and stormy night”. Just make sure you’re really getting the theme out there. But regardless it’s still a very pretty shot and I love you and your Elezen fierce-ness!

Hello everyone and welcome to Week 5 of Eorzea’s Next Top Model!

This week we bring you a challenge from Eirwen Mackenzie on Excalibur!

    Theme: Monochromatic

Create a stunning image where you might blend in, but you need to stand out! Pick a color, any color and create a monochromatic glamour that will stun the judges. The surrounding area in the image should also bear some of the same colors. (Ex: Wearing all green or brown in a forest). As long as the gear is dyed, it's ok if the trim or some parts don’t dye as long as the majority of the outfit is monochrome.

NOTE: All areas/dungeons are usable for this week, no restrictions.

    Here are our lovely models~:

    IMAGES HERE!

Which wonderful model will take top honors this week? Vote to find out!!

Here is where you can vote:

    VOTE HERE!

As always place them in the order you like, and be careful not to double vote (put the same person twice) or your vote will be removed!

As always, voting is open until this coming Tuesday @ 11:59pm (EST)!

My shot had a lot to do with playing with lighting effects while fighting Ifrit, so I had two possible angles - the lack of light or a lot of it. I had so many nice shots, but I had to make sure that I stood out too with a dynamic pose and good image balance. All shots here.

Amazing shots! We kind of almost have the colors of a rainbow!

I originally wanted a shot with my character in mid-air, but I had to zoom out too much. The skirt also kept flipping up so I had to use bikini bottoms. Plus I couldn't figure out the timing of the pose so I gave up on that.

I wanted some kind of action to accompany the water, but it didn't work out in this case.

Another concept, but I felt that the lance was the main focus.

    ENTM C6 - Week 5 Results!

First off, sorry this is a day late, I got really sick yesterday due to a migraine and couldn’t get around light. That said…

Week 5 is now over… this is going by so quickly, but let’s see who took top spot's this time!

First off, let’s go ahead and look at the critiques~

    #TEAMROPO

    Marik:
    Caimura Rathe of Balmung:
Red! So you chose red… I get such a red velvet cake vibe, so rich! I love it! This is such an amazing shot, from the lighting, to the background and your glamours! You never cease to amaze me so far in this competition and this is such a fabulous time to strut your stuff! Even though you have surrounded yourself in red, you easily pop out and are the main focal point. I love how well your eyes and lipstick pop so beautifully against your red scheme. Everything is coming up roses… red roses! And I love’em! Keep up the amazing work.

    Katarh Mest of Lamia:
Yellow! Hmmm… like a lemon cake in a lemon sprinkle heaven, so sweet, tart, and tasty! Yum! (I’m so sorry for the continued food puns, but I’m on a roll… a sweet roll!) I’m just… wow! This shot has to easily be one of my favorites this round. I adore not only how cohesive your glamour is with this shot, but the vast depth of your background choice as well as the most beautiful natural lighting I’ve seen in such a long while! Your dark skin pops so well against your glamour as well as your scenery! This is just such lovely glow against a beautifully painted scene. Someone is definitely walking on sunshine, and it has to be the kitty!

    Kimberlynne Highwind of Malboro:
White! Frosty, glacial, clean, sweet… Powder sugar freeze, on top of a fluffy angel cake! ::shivers:: I’m thoroughly and shockingly impressed by this particular shot! I never thought in ENTM history I’d ever see shadowed shading on a model work for a shot… but it does! Your background is so white and bright, that you actually needed some kind of darkened against you to pop against such a bright background, and it works! This just astounds me and I’m just so flabbergasted. Love the choice of glamour, especially your weapon; it helps accentuate you even further against your background. Just really impressed with this shot. I think you might be floating high on cloud nine!

    Lior Xanthos of Gilgamesh:
Red! More red eh? Fiery, cinnamon-y, something spicy and hot! Like flame candies or blood peppers, hawt! I really appreciate the action type shot here, it’s very interesting and such a severe angle, but I’m not entirely sure it’s all that cohesive. I see bits of red here and there, but over all I’m not sure it’s all pulled together correctly. It’s hard to see all of you with the angle of your character in the actual shot, but I really do like the battle effect going on here; it helps focus your character a little bit. Make sure to have a clear shot of yourself, so you can pop and be amazing! Sizzle and pop, full of fiery passion!

    Sangriah Valere of Excalibur:
Beige, brown, beautiful! Something baked, cookies, cakes? Cinnamon rolls? Either way it’s a delicious show! I really love what is going on in this shot. Playing secret sharp shooter agent ehh? I actually love the lighting as well going on here, it’s like a spot light has been shone on you and you might have been caught! Keep your guard up, and stay on target! You really pop so nicely against your background as well as how well you blend in to the wall as well, all stealth like! Glamour choice is rather spot on as well, just love the whole shot. Warming and sharp, I see this shot shooting through the stiffest of hearts!

    Flare:

Wanted to start out by saying everyone SLAYED this week! Pretty much love all of these photos and it was very hard to actually rank them. As always, this is a good thing!

Caimura Rathe: Never trust a grinning Lala in front of a sinister red backdrop. It looks like you are about to perform some kind of ritual and I love it! This picture is defiantly an eye catcher that keeps us guessing.

Katarh Mesh: Was this taken with the new filters? It looks amazing regardless! This picture brings a certain calmness and warm feeling. Wouldn't be awesome to live in a world where there was an eternal sunset that looked this gorgeous?

Kimberlynn Highwind: Snowy pictures like these are always beautiful. Looks like a gentle white mage becoming one with nature once more. The effect your staff is giving off is quite nice and the shadow from the tree just adds to it.

Lior Xanthos: Simple background, but I can instantly tell this the bowl of embers. What sold this for me was the effortless action pose in conjunction with the instanced lighting. This is a great one!

Shayera Tano: You kind of look like a sky pirate about to score big on some treasure. This is a nice picture that you stand out in in a good way. The metallic works well with the background and lighting, makes you glow a bit and brings the attention to you.

    #TEAMTY

    Masha:
    Bastien Felicieux of Balmung
The location works great, but I think the time of day could have been chosen better here to match the monochrome colours more. The light gives a lot of very yellowy overtones that don’t let the actually colours shine through well. The pose feels a little bit odd, I am not sure if profile was the best choice here, the Elezen physique relay comes through here, making your head sooo tiny – and on top it’s being obscured by your hair.

    Gangly Zilla of Cactuar
A beautifully harmonic picture, and definitely one of my favourites this week! The effect plays into the palette of blue very well and you fill out the picture while still keeping focus on yourself. There is something wonderfully serene about it that keeps my attention. Very well done!

    Iris Dawnshade of Hyperion
Very pretty, the soft blues are calming, yet with the light and shadows there is some depth to the picture. I wonder if the off centre is needed here though, as I am not sure it brings much to the picture itself. I love the pose and expression, and I guess the glamour is thematically appropriate but on a personal note I just cannot bring myself to ever like that set. XD On further observation the angle from below seems almost a bit too harsh, at least with this level of zoom. Still, a very beautiful picture, well done!

    Jester Ehrenfeld of Balmung
This one made me smile, such a cheeky and clever idea. The colour composition is great! I find it a little bit too static though, there are a lot of emotes and maybe different sitting poses you could probably pull off to make it a little bit more interesting. Good job on thinking outside the box though!

    Mackayla Lane of Balmung
Very smart idea to work with your skin colour so much! Watch out for the light source though, because it really watches out a lot of your front. Similar to Isis, I am also not sure what the off centre does for you here, because the right side feels very barren. Your pose is slightly awkward as well, because I cannot quite decipher what you are trying to portray.

    Nadede Lasalle of Hyperion
Colourwise this is definitely on point and a very creative way to probably use the most annoying weather ever. Sadly, I am largely put off by your pose. It’s a very awkward freeze frame from an awkward angle – I spy you, panty shot! This is probably a pose that would have worked better from a more profile-ish angle. Clipping into gear cannot be avoided, but it can be concealed as well, don’t forget!

    Shayera Tano of Faerie
Very nice colours and your attention to detail is apparent. But this was similar to a few others this round where my eyes locked onto a flaw that shifts the entire balance of the picture for me. In your case, it’s the hand/ arm. It’s oddly clipping into itself and proportionally just looks wrong to me. And I cannot even quite pinpoint why. Aside from that, watch out for your lighting source being too close to you, because it threatens to wash you out a bit.

    Eldaena:

Gangly Zilla - You're on fire...! Er...water? You know what I mean! This is spectacular. I really love this screenshot because of how peaceful, yet powerful you look. The only thing that looks a tiny bit weird is the tail, but I know there isn't anything that can be done. It's not too often that I want to make the ENTM screenshots as my personal background on my computer, but this week, you and Katarh really impressed me. Amazing work, and keep it up!

Mackayla Lane - This is really beautiful. I feel like your character is doing some kind of meditation/yoga poses in a secluded area. I like the lighting, and you hit it with the monochromatic. The texture of the stone wall is also interesting to look at. Great job!

Iris Dawnshade - This too has a peaceful vibe to it. The colors are nice and I like the pose. The only critique I really have is how simple it is, and since it's mainly sky in your background, the left bottom mountains are a tiny bit distracting. Still pretty though, so we'll see you next week!

Nadede Lasalle - I like your color scheme! Your pose was pretty interesting too. Nice job getting all of your character in the shot. I like the castle-ly thing in your background too. I feel like the trees and the stone/hill to the left is breaking up some of the monochromatic a bit, but overall I still really like the shot. Good luck!

Jester Ehrenfeld - So cute! I like the idea, and having your eyes closed makes me feel like you're trying to grow! lol The lightning isn't super dynamic, and the plant textures aren't the best (fix the grass SE!), but I still think your shot was really cool and creative. Keep up the good work!

Shayera Tano - This is really pretty too. Everyone did such a great job this week! I'm really impressed. The metallic blue you chose looks really stunning in this shot. You look majestic, keep up the good work!

Bastien Felicieux - I like that you're trying to get a unique pose with the spell and all the neat particle effects. I think you could have used a bit better lightning on your face area and capturing a different part of the spell sequence since you look a bit like you're in pain here. Otherwise, cool theme!

    WINNERS!!

As always we couldn’t do this without the support of the models, judges, tumblr fan’s and of course the players of this awesome game!

    With that said… a day late. >.<

It is now time to vote for WEEK SIX!!!

This week we bring you a challenge that is returning from Cycle #3!

    Theme: Starry Night!

We know models need a break now and then, so we have decided to let you go star gazing. Take a beautiful shot of you watching the night sky with the stars glittering like diamonds. Obviously this is to be taken at night with a clear sky, showing how beautiful not only you are but the sky as well.

    NOTE:
Any areas are usable, no dungeons.

    Here are our lovely models~:

Who will take the top this week, vote to find out!

Here is where you can vote:

    Vote Here

As always place them in the order you like, and be careful not to double vote (put the same person twice) or your vote will be removed!

As always, voting is open until this coming Tuesday @ 11:59pm (EST)!

There's no way I could fit all the shots I took in one post, I actually had a lot I liked, but I felt the one I chose showcased the stars the best... I had some really nice Fair Skies shots before I did a double take on the directions that specifically say clear skies... but they're so pretty! I also had a lot of nice moon shots, but they de-emphasized the stars, so I chose not to use those either...

    Fair Skies

    "Beyond the Dunes"

    "Cut Through the Mist"

    "Twilit Moon"

    "Go to your room!"

    Clear Skies

    "Sparkling Elation"

    "Welcome Moon"

    "Beyond the Canopy"

    "Touch the Moon"
