In Need of Expert Advice

Hi there guys! I'm Azure from Goblin. I'm an Alchemist and I'm having a little trouble HQing 1 star items.

Though I have been a 50 alchemist for a little over a year already I just recently got back into the game and want to further my current job. currently I am trying to make Growth Formula Delta to make the HQ Concentrated version for a Master Tome. I'm nt sure what I may be doing wrong or if I'm not ready gear, and skill wise.

I know that it is good to level most/all crafts to 50 to get all the cross craft skills, but i honestly am not looking forward to it lol. For now these are the skills I am working with. of course comfort zone and Tricks of trade because of Alchemy. I also have Manipulation, Rumination, and Hasty Touch. eventually I will level up another craft but for now I just want to focus on Alchemy. (Also im poor lol)

As per my gear I have the complete set of Alchemist's gear (all but the coat and monocle are HQ) I also have Militia Mortar (NQ), and NQ Raptor skin Merchants purse. the rest of my accessories are pretty low level. all in all my Craftsmanship is 289 and my Control is 285. CP is 271

im not to sure of any rotation i should be using but my normal synth starts out like this. CZ>Inner Quiet> basic synth all the way till 1 basic synth from completion>master's mend(if needed after synths) Steady hand> Manipulation> Hasty Touch> repeat steady hand, manipulation and hasty touch till l am out of CP or at 20 Durability then one last basic synth to finish. i usually stop at last 20 durability in case i fail the final basic synth i still have on more chance. I also use tricks of the trade every time my condition is good (though it doesnt proc very often). and also if my condition is excellent i use advanced touch (by then I'll usually be out of CP)

So all this in mind I still only get maybe 1000 quality at best? i think thats an 100% chance to HQ. I HQ my own quicksilver and I already have HQ rock salt. I use normal Trillium bulbs. that only gives me 89/2645 quality. when i basic synth i get 34 each time. Hasty touch success is 100 in quality if lucky i can chain it two more times to 270 before using steady hand and manipulation again.

I think that about sums it up. Sorry if it took long to read, I just wanted to be very detailed in my methods that I use and what im currently working with. the changes i will make in the future is to get a H version of my current Mortar and get a HQ version on my coat and monocle.

You can edit your original post and that'll let you bypass the 1000 character limit, it's silly I know.

As far as your methodology, I don't see any blaring issues with your approach, your gear's not that bad either for 1 star, so the issue I see would have to be cross class skills.

I would recommend at the very least Byregot's Blessing (CRP 50), Careful Synth I (WVR 15) and.. Steady Hand II (CUL 37)

Byregot's Blessing and SH2 especially, they'll help a LOT. I suppose you could get away without careful synth, you'll just need extra CP for steady hand.

Save ur gil and effort cuz trying to hq 1 star & beyond without BB is too much of a headache lol.
Sure u can hq a 1 star if u have super god like rng, but we all know no thats not how it'll work lol.
Get carp to 50 before trying 1star synth for ur master tomes etc.

Four things. First, you can get around the 1000 character limit by editing your post.

Second, you really do want to level your other crafting classes. Taking the other four to at least 15 will get you more cross class skills to draw upon, some of which you will find useful (Careful Synthesis, and Waste Not, are the two I'm thinking you'll find the most use). Also, leveling them to 15 is pretty darn cheap. You'll also want Culinary to 37, the improvement over Steady Hand is worth it.

Third, your gear needs some improvement. I'm not going to tell you to go and get the BiS pieces off of the marketboard (they would help but given your financial status, that would not be helpful to you to be told to go get them) but instead, look at the older stuff : Aetheryte Rings, Militia Wristlets, Red Coral Earrings, Electrum Choker. I would not meld them much, if at all, given the expansion coming in a month, but if you do decide to start melding, meld to the point you can create 2 star stuff. What main hand are you using? You should have gotten your level 50 main hand tool from the level 50 class quest, too.

Fourth, when working a 40 Durability recipe and using Manipulation, I prefer to go to 10 Durability, Manipulation, and then Steady Hand. If you Steady Hand before Manipulation, you have to do it at 20 Durability, and you run the risk of wasting a charge (if you get a Good at the wrong moment). Also, Steady Hand should keep your Basic Synthesis at 100%, so as long as you can have that up you can go to 10 Durability rather than just 20. Weaver's level 15 cross class skill eliminates any real concern for this, however.

I guess I do have to level up another 50 xD but in the end it does help so thats good lol well i better get to work haha id fail to mention i am using the Alc mainhan you get from quest too haha and i will also look into upgrading some gear. till then better look into post 15 carpenter and then get my cook on to 37 xD thanks again everyone!

Definitely level CRP to get Byregot's. Definitely level CUL to at least 37 for Steady Hand II. Definitely level WVR (personal preference) to 50 to get Careful Synth II. I would also recommend Waste Not (LTW) for 40 durability items.

I guess my get rich quick scheme will have to be put on hold lol xD but tis the life of a crafter :P
