For me, I went for the trait as a healer mostly because survival was a priority for me. I sacrificed an upgrade here or there in my PvP skills, but I've found only certain things need upgrades depending on the mode you are playing in. (Secure or Slaughter)

It will depend on how much HP you have when you're in there, I guess. You want to be able to at least survive one or two Cometeors or one melee LB (with a bit of protection).
