Curtana and Holy Shield Nexus Upgrade - Are you seriously kidding me?

Been working on this Nexus upgrade since back when it was released. Yesterday, I finally managed to completed the Nexus - I go to upgrade the Sword, sweet! Then it looks like I have to upgrade the Holy Shield... uh what? You're telling me NOW that it wasn't soulglazed and I have to gather another 2000 light? ARE YOU #%)^&# KIDDING ME?
Who designed this quest and why in the world does Paladin have to select two different things?! This seriously killed it for me, I think it's completely retarded.
Should seriously consider have some kind of icon overlay to identify if something is soulglazed.

I didn't do anything with PLD after getting the relic zenith, but are you sure you couldn't soulglaze both the sword and shield at the same time?

They're 2 different options in the menu - which I discovered now. I thought soulglazing would happen on both at the same time too; since it doesn't change the item and isn't an upgrade.
The paladin double item quest line is really badly constructed - there are plenty of instances where you turn in two items in FFXIV, couldn't they have done the same here? It would avoid 100% of such mistakes.

Absolutely true.

Both will be on the same screen glowing with soul attunement, if both are soulglazed.

Its merely the oddball because its 2 items for 1 class. But they did everything they should have needed to do in order to point out that both need soul glazing. and novus upgrade processes. and animus upgrade processes. and zenith upgrade processes.

Seriously. You should be used to there being an extra step for the offhand by now.

Ouch, that seriously sucks OP but as these have said you should be more careful and pay more attention with upgrades with a main and off-hand.

People say its your fault and they are right under the current instructions, however I put this into a similar group as Atma dropping for nothing but the Zenith.... very poor design from the games designers.

Its poor design to leave room for user error? say that to point allocation, materia, and a few other systems in game. If someone cant make a mistake then everyone will come out exactly the same. This is not poor design this is someone not paying attention, the previous step was similar in the sense you needed 2 scrolls to meld, you should've also assumed to soulglaze both at once because the NPC accepts both scrolls at the same time.

Why should we be able to get atma without zenith? because you can't be bothered to open your menu and put it on? I like quality of life things in game but not everything should be brainless either.
