I would say, in that scenario at least, that the tank should adapt to the current party and shield that cavalier DPS with his life. Weakest link step it up!Indeed, as a healer main this kind of behavior is disconcerting, especially because not all tanks are on the ball. If a DPS pulls a pack and the tank is dithering about, I'm not going to heal that DPS. This is not to be selfish, to feel entitled, I'm keeping myself off of those mobs' aggro table. I have never had a DPS go out of their way to pick up any mobs off me after I heal them, only once they've finished tunnel visioning whatever they decided to pull. Particularly with dungeons beyond Stone Vigil, things hit squishies hard, and I'm not about to pull a dragon aevis on my own head, getting my heals constantly interrupted, and getting killed because of a BRD with an itchy trigger finger. That DPS can die and the mobs will leash back to their natural habitat.
Ideally yes, and in most cases it works out ok. Most folks don't queue a dungeon to stand about and watch impatient dps die, but it does happen in rare instances.
No you were not, unless someone else reported that. Your post I reported was already deleted by a mod and had language directed at me that is against forum rules. That or you deleted it before a mod got to it. It was rude and flaming and shows your character. You know what you said. You said the following, "Mangey c*** sucker" And others that were reading the posts in this thread saw it too.

I recently encountered something similar to what the OP has been describing. I was doing a WoD loot run with my FC/LS and one of the leaders decided she wanted to tank, everyone encouraged it, as we like helping eachother breakaway from their comfort zone. Well, slight backstory, I main Scholar and people who don't tank feel comfortable with me playing that role, but also we have this crazy guy, who likes to pull aggro every so often, he is a nice guy, super nice, and he plays respectfully of others he just likes to test certain things out; usually when only playing with all friends. Anyway, back on topic, as we we playing, I didn't notice anything majorly different from my healer perspective, but I was hearing about how tanks can't hold or were stealing aggro, etc. Well come Cerberus, our friend pulled the boss, and the tank banter picked up from there. Well once we exited the raid, my friend signed off so fast. I was worried that our friend pulling was the issue, thankfully it wasn't, but she said the other tanks were just so hostile towards her, and the experience put a sour taste in her mouth. I talked to her later that evening to try and comfort her, and hopefully it worked. I encouraged her by saying she inspired me to start tanking. While I can't guarantee no one will be jerks to you or anyone else in dungeons or raids, it helps to surround yourself with some people to lessen the blow of their jerkiness; or call out your jerkiness, sorta. Like that guy I mentioned before, we do point out to him, please don't pull or dont run ahead, for the most part, he listens. And when we had a new healer, also a friend, we joked he got too much of him and needs to recuperate! Lol.

I have no idea what you're doing, but I can't recall having any major problems with tanking as a WAR or a PLD... I don't mark things, because I don't see the point in doing that in dungeons. I get in while throwing a thing at a thing, do some AoE's, and if the DPS are very well geared, I do some extra AoE's for good measure, then I just alter between targets to keep aggro on them, prioritizing the ones getting attacked the most, and I've got myself a smooth run.
I main a DPS, mind, but I do some tanking occasionally if I'm feeling (f)risky.
So I stopped reading after the first couple pages as most of it was rehashing the same stuff.
I am a DPS main, but have leveled my war as well. As a DPS, marking targets kind of sucks for us, not sure why you disliked when tanks did not mark when you were a DPS. It makes AoE jobs shy away from using those AoEs, thus leaving us twiddling our thumbs half the time. Also, as a DPS I target you before you pull, then just click on your first target as my first target. This part really makes marking a target redundant to me. I do this, and I just assume other DPS do it too.
As a WAR, I ran in and pulled closest target with tomahawk, flashed the group if running to another set of mobs, then overpower 2-3 times on the entire group when I was ready to stop and kill stuff. Then I just do enmity combo on each mob rotating until they died. More overpower with blms in party of course, so allow them to do there thing. This is just basic, you toss in other CDs and such as well, but that was all that was needed to gain and maintain agro from the trash mobs in a dungeon.
The only time I marked trash mobs were when I wanted a specific target dead for some reason (like not letting it turn into an aevis in snowcloak). Otherwise, why mark when I was just going to AoE things anyways. I found if I marked a target in lowbie runs whms tended to sleep other targets and used fluid aura and such, really annoying when you planned to AoE them all.
So as a DPs ,that also tanks, that is my advice. If any of that was said past the second page already, this is a redundant post (just like marking!)

Yup. I'm not suggesting you be a dick, but if dps want to pull instead of waiting for you, grab some popcorn. Also, ask you healer not to heal them so the healer doesn't pull. I play most of the classes but I'll never proactively try to tank as a dps. It might pull threat as a blm from time to time. At that point, I stop dps (I never remember to use quelling). Anywho, just let them die.
People like Rath here, if well geared, will make you cry if you don't know how to hold aggro on multiple mobs and/or if your gear is vastly inferior to theirs.
Other classes to watch out for are well geared Summoners, Dragoons (especially if the DRG has everything off cooldown) and White Mages in some cases, usually when throwing a few heals on you before starting a Holy spam.
