I would say, in that scenario at least, that the tank should adapt to the current party and shield that cavalier DPS with his life. Weakest link step it up!Indeed, as a healer main this kind of behavior is disconcerting, especially because not all tanks are on the ball. If a DPS pulls a pack and the tank is dithering about, I'm not going to heal that DPS. This is not to be selfish, to feel entitled, I'm keeping myself off of those mobs' aggro table. I have never had a DPS go out of their way to pick up any mobs off me after I heal them, only once they've finished tunnel visioning whatever they decided to pull. Particularly with dungeons beyond Stone Vigil, things hit squishies hard, and I'm not about to pull a dragon aevis on my own head, getting my heals constantly interrupted, and getting killed because of a BRD with an itchy trigger finger. That DPS can die and the mobs will leash back to their natural habitat.
Ideally yes, and in most cases it works out ok. Most folks don't queue a dungeon to stand about and watch impatient dps die, but it does happen in rare instances.
