It works similar I can select the name from the chatbox on my ps4 and blacklist them by pressing Square which takes me to the menu with that optionIf you're on PC: once you declined the friend request, that name appears in your chatbox. Right click, black list. Don't know if it works on consoles too.
It's still far from optimal, but I guess it's way better than having to write a weird name down and then type it to add to your blist.
No need to write down name, there's a message in chat log with name when you decline a friend request.
They should allow right clicking a name to report it and when you report someone it adds them to some special blacklist that doesn't have a cap you need to clear to add more people.
They make reporting sellers such a pain in the ass, that's why these people don't get reported.
it is annoying to double click to decline someone, these days min I log on I open player search. min lvl 1 max lvl 1, world. no names click search. RMT have typical gill selling names easy to spot, normally shift those names into blacklist.
Since been doing that, I don't get RMT friend request hardly anymore as already pre block them.
Only quick fix there is around right now sadly.
And then tell us a requested feature can't be implemented due to data limitations

9 pending friend requests is my record - what's yours?
Its so annoying to go through the decline/blacklist process, I like to batch up as many as possible then just whack them all at once!
I've started to just ignore the friend requests, wait long enough and they will time out.

Honestly, I think you shouldn't be able to friend request someone unless you can physically click on them and send a friend request. When I wake up in an inn in Limsa I should not be getting a request from some random lv 1 gladiator in Ul'Dah that I've never heard of.

I think they should add a blacklist sniffer program. If an account gets onto 100 blacklists, ban them. I know that this has potential griefing consequences, but you would have to piss a bunch of people off to get b-listed by 100 being a legitimate player. Or add a cap on the number of /tells you can send per hour.
