I keep trying to glean some insight from the silver piece, myself, knowing that it's part of the lore - but all I see is Leviathan >.>

There is also a phenomenon in real life where during a full lunar eclipse, the moon turns blood red due to only the red light frequencies being able to skim around the earth's atmosphere and reach the moon. We may be seeing a simmilar phenomenon in the artwork - one that also leaves Dalamud shadowed.
