looks like it could be a really great thing to add, maybe it could be arrange to only function with skill chains battle regimens maybe, that would make timing tthe whole skillchain a more strategic thing.


It's really hard to say whether it was a good idea or not, I can't even really remember if I thought it functioned well at the time or not.
Believe it or not though, the concept of the original battle system way back then was my favorite of the 3 that have been in FFXIV thus far. I definitely liked it better than the stamina stuff and liked it marginally better than the auto-attack system we have now.
Hard to say whether I'd want the charge bar back though especially since it wasn't my favorite part of the old system. My favorite part was actually that off-hand actions were on their own timer. Made using shields pretty awesome. Also, perhaps I am wrong but it felt like the built-in delay between actions wasn't as long then too. Like, using consecutive buffs didn't feel like it took quite as long. But then again that was a year ago so I might just be remembering how I want to remember it.
Charismatic, we agree on something. I liked it better than all the systems as well. I don't know why they didn't try and go back to it. I would love to see some of the old stuff back in the game!

I'd love to see the Charge-Up Meter be reinstated similar to Cyan.
Click and hold the attack in the action bar. The character changes to a Charging up animation. While charging the character no longer auto attacks, and slowly gains Enmity as their power gets focused, Then letting go at the right time just as the meter maxes out causes an explosive bonus to the attack If you are too early or too late you only get half that bonus.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.


Can be a good idea to get this back (if well done effect and charging animation wise, and if it fits with other incoming battle system adjustments).
Could be exclusive for some weaponskills intended to be big damage dealers, or as a replacement for "drain all TP > added bonus for extra TP above base TP required" system some weapon skills have (like Victimize and Quick Nock).
It'd definitely be more visual than the current system, charging time being the X factor instead of extra TP drained that leaves you TP-less.
Bumping this thread for a couple of reasons, get a few more people to read it. Also kind of a response to auto attack being to slow thread. I believe this would make a more engaging combat system with the auto attack. It will also be unique (to me at least) from other mmos.
I agree, but server optimization should take first. dont want good idea hampered by sluggish ui
