People with Alts

I currently have 14 characters altogether, and I will have more when I can make Au Ra.

Not only do I RP, so each of these characters is a different person with a different story, I also just enjoy making characters. It's kind of a hobby.

I have all slots filled on my server. My friend and I creted our own guild and brought all of our alts into it. Each character I created to main a specific job. I have one character who I plan to get all classes maxed with eventually but the rest will be maxed in 1 or 2 jobs. When heavensward release I plan to change one alt into an au' ra so I haven't done too much with that character yet.

I have an alt with the same name in Hyperion. When I found a static in Gilgamesh, I didn't want to leave my friends behind so I created the same character there so I can play in both servers. On my experience, you catch up real quick. It took me roughly a month to get to level 50, finish the MSQ and become ilvl 130, downing FCOB and stuff with my alt.

I don't, never liked alts or the idea. Might end up rolling another character to see how the new race looks with actual gameplay instead of spending money to change to and from but will only really play one. I don't know guess I don't like doing the leveling process but so many times in most games.

I'm not really an alt person, but I have one alt that's meant to goof around on another server with some friends, since I transferred my main a while back. It does sometimes give me a break from the things I've been concentrating on for my main though, and that's really nice. And it will give me a chance to play around with the au ra once the expansion hits since I'm pretty set on my main's current looks. Outside of that though, I do wish progression could go a little bit faster for all additional characters you choose to level once you've hit 50 on your first one.

So how do you guys deal with alts?

I have 3 characters that are in Coil and done with 2.55 and unlocked most of the content and have 5 more characters that level 22+ on my main server, all joined their respective GC and working on getting choco's. Its a good way to pass time

Only really plan on having 3 of my characters 2.55+ though so I been working on gathering for several of them.

I have 2 alts.

1 looks like my FFXI character. The other I made to do a valentione event because my RL hubby and I both play female characters. And 1st years event needed 2 different genders.

I don't, having alts in this game is pointless. I mean you can't even send items to your alts. Alot more pratical to have everything in one char like you said.

Rubbish, I say. Make your own guild with alts and transfer items between characters using your guild vault that way.

Sure I use my wife to send between my mains to my alts guild and vice-verse but there are other ways to transfer goods. ie. Friends, family, FC mates and you can even use the MB to set your own prices just transferring Gil/items between your characters. Its really not that difficult.

You can dislike alts and that's fine, but that also doesn't mean you are correct in your assumption that you can't transfer things, even by yourself ;P

My poor legacy character became my "alt" when betas started and we couldn't yet access our legacy characters yet and had to create a new one... and just grew too attached to my Shuu. I'm feeling very bad about that every single time I think of him. I'm just trying to get to SoF with him now, before expansion hit - much like how I rushed to lv45 or whatever when the Lightning quests were here (because he's very much behind with everything), and 50 after that just so he could finally have his relic. I find it difficult to handle two characters, to be honest but I wouldn't get rid of either of them for all the gil in the world.

Have two toons and will make third when Heavensward releases. That way I can experience all the MSQ chains.
