All housing styles available to any area?

I've heard a lot of people mention this, but never heard any feedback about it.

Say, I have my mansion in lavender beds, but prefer the architecture style of Mist mansions. I understand there's a general aesthetics value related to every city residential area, but I don't think giving users more choices would dramatically change the environment of residential areas, on the contrary.

There's no reason for us not to build a Mist-style house in Lavender Beds, or a Goblet-style mansion in Mist. It's not an issue of the exterior only, as it also affects the interior: things such as columns, staircases and other details change in the inside of the house depending on what kind of house it is.

I think players shouldn't be limited anymore, we should spice things up and mix the housing styles for any city, make em available please!

I've been wanting to post something about this, but I'm glad someone else has instead, so thank you.

I prefer living in The Goblet, but I'm really not a fan of Oasis-style cottage exteriors and fences, so I agree with you for the most part. The only thing I disagree with is I would like the option to separately choose the interior style from the exterior, since I like Riviera exteriors and Glade interiors. I thought maybe they could implement changing interior structures along with the interior fixtures interface. But I'd be happy even if they do what you're suggesting, since I'd take a Glade exterior over what we have any day. xD

I don't see why we can't just mix and match so we can truly be happy with our homes.

I want to be able to BUILD my own design..of home, furniture, landscaping....everything, thats what housing should be.
What we have is about a 4/10

ffxiv should copy the design of Rift and be 10/10

I totally support this. Need if anything at least the option to change interior style because some wallpapers just don't go well with some interior pillars... On top of that, if the exteriors become more accessible between areas, the market for them would open up! right now it's "oh... My retainer brought me a Riviera window... I can't use this! I don't have a house in Mist!"

I think this will be a thing implemented in 3.0 with the crafting basement. It's speculated that we can recustomize the outside appearance/windows/interior design/lighting all in the remodel with the crafting basement. Tho what I'm quite confused is.. how will this affect most things we already have. We can already buy wallpapers, outside styles, windows, etc. So making a feature in the crafting basement that does the exact same thing seems kind of pointless. But will have to wait to see how it works when they shed more light on the aspect of it. Also this will only work with FC houses and not personal houses since the crafting basement is an FC feature for housing like the aetherial wheel.
