    rng idea

So after months of pony farming and rolls that rarely get above 30 I'm at the end of my tether. I tried making a static group with no success, I've tried everything. Every time is the same story, 4 or 5 people get their ponies and the party breaks up, then it's starting again the next day <cry>

Sorry Enough of the whinging now. Why don't they introduce an rolling buff to your roll, adding an extra 5% with each failed roll?

Unless you are grouping with the same people every time this would be extremely unfair.

A more fair solution, in my opinion, would be to offer a guaranteed drop from the content that can be used as currency to buy the mount. For example, you get a guaranteed "fire orb" from Ifrit EX and when you have 30 orbs you can trade them in for the mount provided you don't already have it. The quantity required is just an example, it could be anything that SE wants it to be, but at least you know that your efforts aren't for nothing.

That would work too, I'm just sick and tired of always losing the roll. It gets you down

It might be done more elegant but I dont really see it as being unfair, having your roll boosted based on the number of failures. Assuming people don't/can't throw away their mount and roll again (would bring up a new annoyance, though already semi present).

20 fails getting a better roll than first time roll does not bother me, in fact I'd probably be less annoyed with RNG with it. If someone who is new rolls I'd know I probably have a higher chance because I just got the RNG finger twelve other times but if for some reason it happened again it would be even less likely to happen the next time. It would likely reduce outliers too, just bringing it into a tighter band of "random".

They did say that in 3.0, we'd get a token system.

In 3.0 we’ll be introducing a token system, where one token will be distributed to every party member. For example, with this token system, you’ll be able to exchange 10 tokens for any weapon you choose.
Just hope that the tokens can be exchanged for any possible drop from a trial, rather than just gear.

This would be utterly unfair. Just because you failed a roll 8 times does not mean I should get completely shafted when I party with you. No, No, No.

It could be 100. I don't really care. It has zero bearing on my or anyone else's chances just because you've had bad luck. That's not being fair to you. That's being unfair to everyone else that had the misfortune of playing with you.

The system would come full circle (those who play with others who have been unlucky would boost their own roll for next time), the significant difference from the current and suggested is that outliers and first time luck being less likely. The median would get closer to the average.

Rather than 100, 5, 20, 1, 100. You would get more like 15, 35, 1, 20, 25. Would prefer a tighter band of expectation, I think that is fairer - less of an I and more of a we.

Of course tokens does a bit of both. It just doesn't have much of a random mystery feature.. besides that it works really well though.
