Yep. It's what I get tired of seeing. I'm very anti-RMT myself. It destroys game economies, and the market is where I have the most fun in any game. I wish they'd be more effective about it too, but honestly the constant parade of new threads is to the point where the forum spam is almost as bad as the tell spam, and that's saying something. xD

I agree with this person...I just answered a thread about this from 2 months ago. (I just checked the Original Post date)

How hard is it to implement a /tell filter that just no holds barred blacklists these types of tells...and allows non RMT tells? (even blocks a copy/paste if they just came off a banned/blacklisted by player new character and they just say the saaaaame thing, also those 'sellgil' characters adding attempting to add people as a friend too)

I would report, but have no way to report with proof since I play on PS3. (screenshot of Blacklist...with all those 'sellgil' accounts that tried to add me.)[I think they all may be the same person -includes /tell spammers-, because how can a different spammer -character name- know what my character's name is]

So unless your e-mail account is in the hands of RMT, you could go and TELL them your login information and it wouldn't do jack, they still couldn't steal your account. If they tried to log in with your credentials, you'd get an e-mail about it, change the password to something else, and RMT could twiddle their thumbs.
Oh lawwwd, what happens when I start up AAR:FFXIV on PC, since I started on PS3? Am I going to have to change my password AGAIN? (about that primary password [not One Time Pass] thing)

Ok, yes, the botting is still a problem and annoying as all hell. But to say they're doing nothing about it when they banned over 9000 (insert meme here) accounts in a single week is a little disingenuous, isn't it?

It is. They are doing something but it's the equivalent (in terms of effectiveness) of trying to put out a forest fire with a squirt gun. SE has shown a real knack for social engineering in this game. I'm surprised they haven't gotten a better solution than what we have now.

The powers that be don't experience the same issues we do. To the devs, the weekly sweeps do their job perfectly, even if they're made aware that it doesn't help other servers. Remember Yoshi-P's response about Titan and needing to zoom out the camera to survive mechanics caused by the lag? LOL! RMT primarily target NA/EU servers, though not just because its the most profitable. It's because they know better than to overly bother the servers that devs themselves frequent. The last time they did that, which was during launch of 2.0, SE took large scale action against them. Unless you experience it firsthand, and over a course of time, you won't understand the severity of any matter. Granted though, that initial action was absolutely intolerable to the MMORPG experience of a paid subscription service, irrelevant to what servers you use. If it wasn't through /shout flooding messages every millisecond, it was /tells being flooded every millisecond.

Obviously, right now is nowhere near as bad, but it is slowly picking up as more time goes on. SE will have to take appropriate measures into hand sooner than later. Then again, the devs are impressively naive when it comes to QoL and consequences of player/consumer freedoms.

Yeah, there have been a number of threads about how the JP servers aren't really seeing this problem. The consensus was that it's a mix of reasons that it happens, but the result is the same - the game devs don't see it.

The bots and RMT sellers are on the JP servers just as much as they are on the other servers. The only difference is that there they do not spam/send whispers/send friend requests...because they know better than to shake the hornets nest in the owners' back yard.

Not really. Having an algorithm ban 9k accounts for gold spamming is a good start, but they will just be replaced. More worrisome is the line from that post that was left out.

・Accounts receiving disciplinary action for participation in RMT/illegal activity: 1
・Action Details: Temporary ban from FINAL FANTASY XIV

If botting players (as opposed to botting RMT operators, who know that account banning is a cost of business) had been perma-banned by the thousands there would be quite an uproar about it. That means that this sort of suspension is much more likely the route that they will take (if any at all) for dealing with players who bot sometimes. There was all of one suspension during the period you mentioned. A single one, across the entire game. Given the number of bots I see (and report) running the same patterns for a few hours most every day.... yea..... calling SE out on not addressing this issue does seem quite reasonable.

Blizzard just banned 100,000 botters in WoW, big enough to make news in any respectable site. This is how things should be done to deter botters. I'm sure Blizzard had been banning RMT bots all the time like SE, but there must have been a policy change and they suddenly targeted regular player bots, which is how they suddenly have 100,000 players to kill.

Congratulations, Blizzard! Get with it, SE!
