We have a joke in our FC, when ever we run someone new through something we call it a Hard Carry. As someone was explain this fight, I was jumping around shouting "HARD CARRY" and jumped off the side. Karma can be a bitch.
Tonight I killed myself in Biz ex by attacking the wrong snake. When they rezzed me I promptly went and attacked that same snake until it killed me again. Talk about tunnel vision.

I was lagging somewhat earlier this week. Went against my better judgment and queued up for Leveling Roulette on my NIN anyway. By the time I got in, the lag had progressed to the point where I was seeing 1-2 second delays on most of my button presses. "Well," I thought, "it's just Halatali, maybe I can wing it until the dungeon's over."
In the first room, I failed to escape the final explosion from two bombs and died. Yeah, the scrub NIN in Dreadwyrm gear died to bombs in a level 20 dungeon. I wanted to crawl under a rock; I can only imagine what my partymates were thinking.
I can't tell you how embarassing it was when I mained DRG, to jump during an AOE burst... especially when my husband was playing WHM in the same room.
Now as a BLM main, I've been coping with learning a new enochian rotation with VERY movement heavy dungeons/bosses. You wouldn't want to hear my vocabulary every time I miss refreshing with Blizz4 on the second rotation and losing enochian too early (especially the final boss on neverreap >:T).
This happened last night. So there I was, a fresh young Black Mage who just made it to 50 and still trying to get used to having Flare in my rotation. I was with a duty finder group in Wander's Palace and we were fighting the Tonberry King. My other party members all had top-tier gear and those super glowy relic weapons. About half-way through the fight I had been casting Fire I and was down to my last 200-250 MP and decided to Swiftcast Flare in the hopes of catching some of the remaining adds. I had done this earlier then casted Convert-Blizzard III to pretty good effect.
Well, this time I did it only to realize that Convert was only half-way through its cooldown. I thought "No big deal, I'll just use Transpose and cast Blizzard I till three stacks of Umbral then Fire III and I'm back in my normal rotation." The problem with that was that immediately after Transpose, I noticed I had a Firestarter proc just sitting there beckoning me longingly. Without thinking, I immediately pressed Fire III before I had a chance to regenerate any MP. I immediately realized my grievous error as soon as I pressed Fire III.
Flushing with embarrassment, I thought I would quickly jump into my inventory and pop a Mega-ether or something to regenerate enough MP to get off a Blizzard I and hope no one would notice. Then I remembered I had sold all my ether potions just before the dungeon because "I gots infinite MP. When will I ever need these?"
So there I was, staff out and no way to attack, waiting for my MP to regenerate naturally because by the time Transpose finished its cooldown my astral fire stacks had expired. This left me standing unable to do much of anything for what felt like an eternity. By the time I could attack again, the others had finished the fight just fine without me. I hoped no one notice and that I could leave quietly. Then everyone turned toward me and started saying things like: "Nice DPS, there BLM", "You really know how to play your Job BLM", and "You're the best DPS I've ever seen BLM."
I ran to leave as fast as possible then noticed that I had received 3 commendations. I don't know if they were out of pity or irony, but that's 3 commendations on my record that will forever shame me.

I was doing Ravana Ex last night and was trying to spread out the purple aoe I had so I was inching closer to the sides and just ran right off the cliff, I didn't die to double purple stacking at least!
Haha... great story Cecelia. The fact of the matter is that happens to ALL BLM's once in a blue moon. It's the lengthy duration of the consequences that makes it even worse. You could always jump and down and pretend you're doing something. Or better yet.... run in close for the auto-attack special.
I once fell off the edge while trailing the orbs around the arena with the group. One moment there was seven in the group. The next... mysterious, unexplained alien abduction???
So much shame.
I've been deathly afraid of doing the same since I kind of just space out while running around.
My biggest dps shame is starting a combo and THEN realizing heavy thrust has worn off. I have to decide between looking stupid and finishing the combo without it, or looking stupid and breaking the combo to refresh it.
That and using blood for blood before a big hit then tanking the floor. Lol drg is alive and well.
