I'd add my vote as well:

    * 50 Matches is too much and too tiring.

It does nothing to deter the cheaters w/ alts, and makes it more painful for the regular players.

If ur grinding 50 matches on the same npc for an hour then u only got urself to blame for it being dull and tiresome. Try having abit of fun with it, u have a whole week! Play ppl in ur fc or linkshells or jus random ppl in the GS, u know, how its supposed to be played.

Except this is hardly possible at all, because I stood around for an entire week on the last tournament I participated in challenging any and every person I saw that could accept a tournament invite and got about 20 matches out of the 45 I needed for that week. I was forced to NPC my final 25 wins because I would have forfeited them if I didn't.

Why, you may ask? Because the people kept declining the invite. And why may they do that? Because, they are either waiting until the last minute to boost their wins, don't care and NPC their wins for the guaranteed plat packs, or are going to be paid gil by someone to let them boost wins off of them.

Playing people in my FC or Linkshells doesn't help when most of the people I ask couldn't care less about Triple Triad. So how is that fun for me? To stomp a player with starter 5 cards to the ground when I have a pool of 75 to choose from? There is no "fun" in this for someone who wants to do as you say, and you know, play how it's supposed to be played.

The tournament is a damn joke. You could have a month to get your 50 wins and it isn't going to stop 95% of people from falling into one of the three aforementioned categories when they see reset day at 4am someone already has 6500 points. It deters people because, news flash, you can't attain that score yourself without doing the same thing that person did. Boost with alts. In fact, even if you did boost with alts it's almost guaranteed you won't be able to reach the point total that the first person did because their booster alts were in the top 10 giving the main bonus points for being an early bird.

But according to them, there are no rules against this so it's totally ok!! So, please tell me, exactly how is this tournament supposed to be played?!

Just got 4 packs for scoring 4.5k points after 50 matches on Guhtwint. Maybe it's time we keep track of this data.

I feel sorry for ya, but I was originally only doing npc duels to get my 100 tournament wins achievement. And now that I've got that finished, I rarely even see people online to play with. Also, when you consider that getting more points = more card packs, two people grinding npcs will net more packs than two people fighting each other.

Maybe they should give a card pack for every 15 tournament games played, win or lose? Then you could fight your friends, or strangers, or whoever, and you get packs for time invested rather than how badly you whooped some npc dude.
