Anyone have any confirmation/sources about how they're handling most of the Mac version? My biggest question is if buying either the Windows or Mac version will allow you to download both?
Thanks ^^

the mac version will be going though a 3rd party in co-operation with SE, if you buy the windows you ONLY have access to the windows version if you buy the MAC version you will only have access to the mac version
as for steam it is very rare they make you buy both but it is unknown how that will play out.
in short if you want to play on both windows and mac you need to buy the game twice one for windows and one for mac.

I should start off by saying, I am very happy they are finally putting out a Mac version.
BUT after reading through the official Heavensward site, let's take a look at how we once again got a bit shafted, shall we?
1. We have to rebuy vanilla, which I saw coming, but is still a bit annoying. I'm sure they could have set up an option where if you're buying from an account that has already purchased the game, they could have included vanilla in the price of you buying the expansion, while still charging the $60 to people who are joining for the first time and need the vanilla copy.
2. There is no hard copy, collectors edition, or even digital collectors edition. What the heck? So we have to pay the $60 (the price of a Windows collectors edition) and get no collectors edition content?? Including no fantasia, for everyone who would like to switch to the new race.![]()
My fear is that the Mac edition is going to crash and burn and be completely unplayable for the first month or so after launch, and then I'm going to have to go and pay another $40 to get the PS4 version so that I can even play while they work out the bugs. But I would really rather get off of PS4 entirely since Sony isincompetenthaving difficulty keeping their PSN functioning, and require you to be on PSN to play any of the games you have purchased, despite the fact that you pay for your internet.
From what I've gathered the Mac version is just the Windows version in a wrapper to allow it to work on an 'intel' Mac. It should work fine the only issue would be the wrapper and it's a commercial wrapper so it should be fine.My fear is that the Mac edition is going to crash and burn and be completely unplayable for the first month or so after launch, and then I'm going to have to go and pay another $40 to get the PS4 version so that I can even play while they work out the bugs. @Finna
So what you you were expecting. To give the game for free or something? It's 2 games in 1 bundle. The price is fair. You get the base game plus the expansion and you throw your social life out of the window :P. Mac is another platform. Mac is not Windows and Windows is not Mac. Just like the consoles. Another platform means another price and another package. Now if you want to play on both Windows and Mac then you have to pay. Just like with every other game out there. That was to be expected and it's pretty normal.
Majority of subscription MMOs in the past that supported a Mac version worked off the idea that you subscription pays for access, and the client is just free.
With ARR, SE wants you have an individual serial key registered per game/expansion PER platform you want to play it on, which is against the trend in the PC+Mac MMO territory. All it's doing for me is deterring from ever wanting to try out the Mac version at any rate since I don't want to have to double-dip every expansion when I can just bootcamp my PC copy instead.
For all we know the Mac 'port' may just be a cider wrapped copy of the PC game.
No, if you read what I said that's not what I expected. :P I said that I wish there was a way to purchase the Mac expansion without having to repurchase the vanilla since I already own it. Similar to how they let PS3 users upgrade to PS4 for free, I wish they would have done this for Windows to Mac. They can see that you own the game since it's linked to your account, so it would have been nice to only have to pay for the expansion and "trade in" your Windows vanilla or something.
For the Mac, I guess you need to buy just the Mac expansion, because there not exists a Mac version of the vanilla ARR. It will surely installs vanilla + expansion.
