This game has like 25% of the endgame it needs to keep people who play more then 10hrs a week occupied.

ENDGAME constantly negates itself in XIV. There is less then 10hrs of relevant endgame a week in XIV. Sure there is hundreds of hours of fluff and vanity content, but that is not going to work for the endgame players.
Unfortunately for said endgame players, they'll never... ever... be the focal point for XIV, so long as the Yoshi-P aims for the game to be easy access to everyone. Time will always be spent primarily with "fluff and vanity content" as a result. As much as players hate to admit it, they'll willingly spend as much time as possible trying to get something if they want it... even if it's in the name of vanity and riddled with self-inflicted complaints along the way.

If you're strictly about the endgame, you will leave... and be of zero loss. If you're about endgame but also enjoy the fluff and vanity (story, GS, glamour, mounts, having fun doing random stuff with friends, etc), you will thrive here. Maybe you'll leave in that light, that's bound to happen... we all lose interest or maybe have financial issues or other priorities to take care of. Things happen. You and your friends are in the wrong part of town if you're only playing for endgame.

Highest tier endgame will always get the short end of the stick, its always been that way... it always will be that way, as its an inevitability of what we call "progression" when dealing with raids. If you're bored of an MMORPG, welcome to the club. It's a club called "life". We tend to experience things here that a select few might consider "odd", in that it was "odd" that people may not realize you can grow bored of anything at any moment. You should never look at and hope/expect an MMORPG to hold your life hostage from everything else outside of it. Play if you feel like it, stop playing if you don't (such as if you're bored of it). I suddenly became bored of popular games like Skyrim in the first hour of playing, but that doesn't mean there was something wrong with the game though.

this is a fine idea while the game is still relatively young. But as it get older and more expansions come our way it will begin to be detrimental to pulling in and retaining new players.

For instance imagine if you began playing an older game such a World of Warcraft NOW and were forced to progress through all content from Vanilla to whatever expansion they have now before you even got to experience the things you saw the advertisement for that piqued your interest.

The current content would be far outdated by the time you got there to enjoy it. But then you're still required to progress through it even though all your friends and everyone else is doing this new thing.

I'm not saying that it is necessarily a bad thing at the moment to require this content be cleared to move forward. But there is going to have to come a point where they decide to let the older stuff fall off in favor of letting new players experience the current content. Because as it is it is building up. For a casual player it's not a matter of just doing some quests and clearing all the content just from 2.0-2.55 in a matter of a few days. It's a good month or more for most. Which isn't bad right now.. but later on say as early as 4.0 and having to clear from 2.0-3.?? Thats a different story.

Personally I enjoy having a ton of story that can't just be skipped over, because that means it's integral to the story line and it means that players can't just skip over story dungeons and not know how to play their class/job in a party setting.

In fact, while it may potentially burn out new users, it will definitely make them veterans of the game by the time they hit Heavensward content.
I'd be a lot happier if half of those level 50 quest had instead been spread between levels 35 to 49.

    A) Other games dont necessarily have less end game content, they just dont force to do weeks of taxi quests and gear grinds before letting them move ahead with the story. SWTOR's story was leaps and bounds ahead of FFXIV's yet managed to allow players to go wherever they wanted, whenever they wanted, minus some story-centric dungeons, if that (IIRC). They could at least go to any planet they wished once they left the tutorial area.
    B) Forcing players into playing every single dungeon at least once isnt going to make them better or even competent. Plenty of horrible players now who have completed the story, and then some, yet are horrible at their job. Nor are any of the elitist thinking the same automatically better players than those who havent finished the story.

I feel there is too much to do as well, getting all your jobs to ilvl 130 by farming coil, collecting all the pets and mounts, capping your poetics, crafting to make gil. Often it doesn't leave me much time for other games, but I guess that is a good thing that they offer so much to do. I never seem to run out of things to do in FFXIV.
